Just found this randomly now as the Sox pulled away tonight. Great shots of the school and Fitton....not sure who we are playing, I thought the team was in orange but we were at Syracuse that year. There's video of the crusader riding his horse, big crowd shots etc etc...the HC stuff is at the beginning of the video.

Great find, 87! That was my junior year. It is hard to remember how terrible old 8mm fl was back in the day.

Strange not seeing I-290 there. The press box on the old visitor's side still looks better than what they have now....

Agree, great find 87, my junior year also! That year in October we played Dartmouth (10/02 Homecoming - L 27 - 6), Boston Univ.(10/16 - T 7 - 7) and Buffalo (Family Weekend, 10/30 - W 20-7). Most likely it was the Boston Univ. game. Looks like the score at halftime was 0 - 0 and the BU team had white jerseys and red pants. !

IH, great find. The weather looks nice, so my guess is Boston University, and the red has faded to orange. The schedule shows how much the academic year has changed. The first game was at Harvard on September 25. Old schedules and results can be found here. www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/holy-cross/1958-schedule.html'58 was the year the schedule started with Pitt, Syracuse, Dartmouth. One of the HC-Dartmouth games from that era was broadcast nationally as the game of the week, and played at the Manning Bowl in Lynn because neither Fitton nor the field at Hanover could handle a television broadcast.

We need to fill Fitton Field like that again. Would get the team playing hard and winning. Night GAMES!

Short of a 1A "name" opponent coming to Fitton, you'll never see 23,500 again regardless of time of day the game is played. Not with that attitude. People want to see winning. If they win, people will go. If they have a story people want to get behind or a must see player, people will go. They don't need 23,500. But they could get 10-15 consistently.

A "filled" Fitton like '65 is what you said you'd like to see. That is 23.5, not 10-15. 10-15 is possible. 23.5 is not given current crop of home opponents.

I agree, but how do you get better opponents? The home schedule is the home schedule, its not the worst. I think you update Fitton, keep the 23.5 capacity and people will come because it is new and other opponents might want to come there. Also add lights and promote the heck of it. The Railers at opening night are going to get over 10. To watch minor league hockey. I love the Railers and I love hockey, but College hockey is way better than minor league hockey which is below the AHL. People will go to the game if it is a good experience and they can watch good football.

When they finally start renovating the place, it just depends upon what it costs to have it look like it ought to look. I think a nicer facility in the 15-20K range is much more realistic and people will be happy with it. But perhaps they are stuck with the existing footprint and even with lights, better concession areas, dressing rooms, etc., it'll still be 23K with the covered seats.
