Nope. Not what I said. They simply got a shot from a lower division and made the most of it. Chesney now simply has the same opportunity which he earned. Time will tell if HC made the right bet, but I’m not going to cast him off simply because he came from Assumption where he took a dormant program and made it successful quickly. He earned the opportunity is pretty much it. I agree with that part, I just got confused with the comparisons. Gotcha.

Weather forecast for Saturday is rain and wind, with rain beginning well before game time. For the football prognosticators, similar conditions @ Hamilton but less wind.
The sort of conditions where one might expect a two back backfield, and running east-west.

The sort of conditions where one might expect a two back backfield, and running east-west. . Why east-west ? Fitton Field is aligned east west. If one cares to run the RPO, one risks the risk of slipping when trying to turn upfield, or having the turf give way when trying to make a cut.. The latest forecast is for an inch or more of rain to fall before the game, and a steady, chilly, wind-driven rain during the game.

Got to use my season tickets. My friend and I will be there. Thinking I am dropping the Cross is back T shirt and going with the purple button down shirt and the purple tie. Probably going to sit in the end zone. Lets crush the Mountain Hawks. Go Cross Go

How many bodies will be there without souls? When a commercial airplane is in trouble, they report the number of souls on board. It is the standard terminology.

From the Lehigh site: LEHIGH Wraps Up Road Swing at Holy Cross
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Two teams with identical records, looking to get back on track meet Saturday at Fitton Field as Lehigh travels to Holy Cross. The Mountain Hawks fell to 0-2 in Patriot League play for just the third time ever after a heartbreaking 22-16 double overtime loss at Georgetown last weekend, Lehigh's first loss to Georgetown since 1925. A strong defensive effort kept Georgetown's offense off the scoreboard over the final 58 minutes of regulation, but the Mountain Hawks' offense could only muster nine points through 60 minutes. Lehigh did block two field goals, including Georgetown's game-winning attempt as time expired. Holy Cross comes off its bye looking to snap a four-game losing streak. The Mountain Hawks blocked two field goals at Georgetown, giving them a chance to win the game. Junior Riley O'Neil came up the middle to block Brad Hurst's second quarter 32-yard attempt, while junior Marquis Wilson was credited with blocking Hurst's 41-yard attempt as time expired. This marked the seventh time that Lehigh blocked two kicks in a game since 2001 and the first time with multiple blocked kicks since the Mountain Hawks blocked two extra points at Monmouth last season. The two blocks came six years to the day from a game where Lehigh blocked four kicks in a win over Bucknell. Lehigh opponents have attempted two potential game-winning field goals on the final play of regulation this season. The Mountain Hawks have blocked them both. After rushing for minus-13 yards in the first half at Georgetown, Lehigh's rushing attack awakened after halftime, gaining 117 yards on 27 attempts. Senior Dominick Bragalone was held to five yards on eight carries in the first half, but came back to gain 85 yards on 20 carries in the second. Freshman Rashawn Allen also broke off a 19-yard run that led to Lehigh's game-tying field goal. A strong defensive effort helped keep Lehigh in its game with Georgetown before the Hoyas ultimately prevailed in double overtime. Georgetown scored on a 70-yard touchdown pass on its third play from scrimmage, but the Lehigh defense kept the Hoyas off the board through the remainder of regulation, a span of 58:27. The Mountain Hawks recorded 13 tackles for loss, three sacks and limited Georgetown to just 313 yards of total offense in regulation, and 243 following the long touchdown pass on the first drive of the game. Lehigh allowed just 62 rushing yards during regulation and kept an opponent under 100 yards for the game for just the second time this season and the first time since limiting Saint Francis to 58 in the season opener. Holy Cross returns from its bye week looking to snap a four-game losing streak. The Crusaders' lone win came by a 31-28 score against Yale in overtime on Sept. 15. In its last game before the bye, Holy Cross erased a 30-14 third quarter deficit to take a lead at Harvard, only to fall 33-31 on a last second field goal. Holy Cross' two league losses came at the hands of Colgate on Sept. 1 and against Bucknell Sept. 29. Quarterback Geoff Wade leads the Crusader offense. Wade has started four games under center and has thrown for 1,009 yards and seven touchdowns with seven interceptions. Domenic Cozier is the top rusher for Holy Cross with 346 yards and four touchdowns, while Martin Dorsey is the top receiver with 28 catches for 333 yards and three touchdowns. Linebacker Ryan Brady leads the Holy Cross defense with 79 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and two sacks. Like Lehigh, Holy Cross has struggled in the turnover department. The Crusaders have a minus-8 turnover margin through seven games. Bob Chesney is in his first season as Holy Cross' head coach. Lehigh and Holy Cross get together for the 34th time with Lehigh holding a 19-13-1 lead in the series. Lehigh has won seven of the last eight games against Holy Cross, including three of the last four in Worcester. Andy Coen is 8-4 versus Holy Cross. These teams first met in 1924 and did not meet again until 1986. Saturday's game kicks off just after 1 p.m. from Fitton Field in Worcester, Mass. The game will stream live on the Patriot League Network. Audio coverage will be available on Fox Sports Radio 1230 and 1320 beginning at noon.
Lehigh's Record: 1-6 overall, 0-2 Patriot League Holy Cross' Record: 1-6 overall, 0-2 Patriot League Series: Lehigh leads 19-13-1
Key Stats: •Lehigh is averaging 267.5 passing yards per game during Patriot League play after averaging 170 yards per game in its five non-league games. •In three career games against Holy Cross, Dom Bragalone has rushed 69 times for 499 yards and seven touchdowns. He is averaging 7.2 yards per carry and 166.3 yards per game versus the Crusaders. •Lehigh's defense is averaging 6.4 tackles for loss per game and has three games with double digit tackles for loss this season, including 13 at Georgetown.

Really trying to find interest in this game. The weather will keep me away....just not worth the hour + drive to sit in the rain. Hopefully the weather won't be too much of a factor...interested to see what we can do with another bad team, coming off a bye-week etc.

Guessing the weather won't be any worse than the '66 Dartmouth game (we won 7-6!!). Sitting in weather like that helps you feel like you participated in the win. Don't miss the experience!

I agree, but at least they can let you bring an umbrella? But Rain and Wind is not enough to stop me from going to cheer on the Crusaders. Desperate for another WIN!

Rainy, muddy, windy. Will probably see the Run game a lot. Throwback to old fashion football. I will fit the part in a shirt and tie! I don't think to many Lehigh fans will make the trip.

Sitting with my girlfriend (now fiancé) in the driving rain and watching that game sticks with me even today. (Selfish link, I also remember it because I predicted that HC would upset the Indians and end the country's longest win streak...as we had upset BC back in 1963. That quote was put in the Boston Globe article which previewed the game. My 15 minutes - maybe 2 or 3 minutes at least - of fame. )

Quotes from the Lehigh Football Forum:
Post by RichH » Tue Oct 23, 2018 1:24 pm Notes up. No changes on O A lot of changes on D. Lynn back at DE Rybka up at 2 at DT Floyd moved to 1 at R McCloskey at 2 Seighman now at 1 at LB Buckrham now at 2 at both CBs McCloskey still at 1 at S I note that the 2 deep contains 11 seniors and a 5 th year. 9 juniors. All the rest are underclassmen.
Post by ngineer » Tue Oct 23, 2018 10:03 pm Weather forecast not very good either. In the 40's with rain or some flurries. Not conducive for offense...as if anything this year has been.
Post by RichH » Tue Oct 23, 2018 10:08 pm Hell, it may slow Cross down. We are already slowed down.

Family Weekend too...was discussing the matter with a fellow board member. We both think they should play the game Sunday.
No Patriots/Sox not until night/decent weather. Costs Lehigh a night's stay somewhere.

The Capt has won word for where this game will be one: "the trenches". The Sades O-Line are mean, lean, and hungry for some deep fried mountain hawk. I just know Sader Line legend, Coach Smith, has the boys frothin' at the mouth for this game.
The Capt called 9-1-1 this morning to pre-order four ambulances for the Hawk d-line because I know what the Big Boys in Purp are gonna do.

HoJo lot was a complete mud pit the last home game with several cars getting stuck without 4 wheel drive. HC closed baseball field day before that game and still only put 2 bathroom facilities for HoJo. Was a complete disaster all around. Hopefully they put a few more bathrooms on freshman field but I doubt many will be actually going to this game. Even if it was 70 and sunny I wouldn’t be there, no interest in this team unfortunaley.
