I went to the HC U of L game years ago. I believe we were tied 20-20 at the half. In the second half U of L must have blocked a dozen shots and ran us out of the arena. Probably some of the same dynamicsas in tonight's game

NAD, having eyeballed the game, I disagree. The second half was certainly partly due to adjustments by Michigan but can't tell you how many bunnies missed and the great outside shooting by Connor in the 1st half that carried us was missing because others were taking shots instead of him and Faw. Haven't seen the stats but no one else seemed to shoot well tonight.

Well, sometimes missed bunnies are the result of rushing a bit and looking over your shoulder. Regardless, I think we all agree the team needed an exceptional shooting night to pull off the upset. Still, a good experience.

Still, a good experience. Unfortunately execution and ability to respond to a punch was not what it needed to be to deliver a win. The UM defense was solid but not great-I thought a few players might have been benched due to their lack of productivity, but coaching and preparing for the entire season was evident so the minutes together were important. But as you said overall it was a good learning experience for the team.

Not happy about the outcome, but many positives in the game. Give Michigan credit - the played knock down defense in the second half which HC had no answer to. Game over. But we had five sophs who scared the crap out of the 19th rated team in the country. It was a big learning experience for them. They will have an answer the next time. I didn’t expect a win, and there wasn’t one. This team will win a lot of games this year - take book on it!!

The outcome was not an issue as I didn't expect to win this game but the way it played out is a little troubling. For their first game against a power conference team I was expecting a tentative start but the first half was excellent particularly considering JF only played a few minutes. At that time I felt we had a really good chance to win as it appears this will not be a real strong Michigan team and it is probably the weakest Bielien offensive team I've seen. Unfortunately when Michigan made their expected run to start the 2nd half we did not respond and the game turned into a blow out. Other than Niego's strong first half no one played particularly well. JF was a non factor and hopefully that is an aberration as this team is going nowhere without him leading the way. I realize the team is young but the sophomores have played a lot of minutes and it will be interesting to see if they develop some consistency in their games. It will be interesting to see how the team responds to this game when it plays another power conference team on Tuesday.

I always like to read the other teams' message boards to get their take of the game. Many times, when the underdog is winning or wins, you get the "how can we be down to these crap bums, they suck!". While there was a little bit of that on the M board, many seemed to think our guys pushed them to grind it out. FWIW.

Haven’t posted in a long time due to conflict of interest with Connor Niego, but my dad, wife, son, and I made the trip to Ann Arbor last night. While outcome was not great, I see a ton of potential with this Sophomore class. This team has more talent than I’ve seen in awhile at HC and will compete in the Patriot League. As the young talent continues to mature, a NCAA tournament birth is a legitimate possibility by next year. They looked like they belonged in the first half. As they mature, I think they can look like they belong for a full game. It was definitely worth the drive.

A couple thoughts as I sit in Detroit airport waiting for my flight home. Stat of the game -Mich took 21 foul shots; HC 3. Every close foul went home team’s way. When you play any power 5 school on their turf, expect to get screwed, and HC did. HC must have missed a dozen layups/5 footers. Most were contested, but nonetheless, a huge factor in the final score. The Michigan fans and people in general out here could not have been nicer. I sometimes forget how people outside the northeast are friendly. Everyone staffing the arena was welcoming, helpful and nice. The HC fans making the trip showed their colors and pride. Ran into and spent time with HCFC and his son in law and grandsons. Great people and company; only thing is that I’m sure his favorite ref, McCarthy, heard that he was not thrilled with him. Ran into hc70 also, he’s back working and doing well. Nice to see familiar faces when on these trips. By the way, we covered!

We led Duke at the half also. Then it was 7 vs 5 in the second half i think you answered my question, lou. i'm pretty sure the last time we were leading a ranked team at halftime was in 2006 in the duke game. many similarities between that game and last night (low scoring first halves, bigs in foul trouble, opponents going on big run in second half, etc.) with a similar outcome. www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/recap?gameId=263400150i agree with illinoissader's assessment. this sophomore class is already very good and is showing shades of being outstanding. we had five sophomores on the floor that built most of the halftime lead. very impressive showing, before michigan's adjustments and superior talent took over.

One thing that impresses me is that this team looks a lot more athletic than I am used to seeing. Ball handling seems very assured. Good stuff as we move forward on the season! Go Cross!

Austin may have had a rough game, but I have a lot of confidence in his ability to bounce back. Need to play these games.

Austin will surely bounce back. He’s a warrior and no doubt knows that all warriors occasionally have a bad skirmish.

AB's poor shooting night less of a worry than JF's tentativeness
Bucknell has found a way to occasionally, and sometimes dramatically, win games like this.
We need to WIN one.

Floyd is too good to not figure it out....he spent almost the entire game in foul trouble which contributed to the tentativeness. I think there is a lot of promise with this current team.

For those who did not get to see the Michigan/HC game and would like to watch it (or at least the first half) on replay, the regular BTN network channel (Ch 247 on Optimum) is replaying it at 3:30-5:30 PM this afternoon.
I've already set my DVR.
