Seventh in the PL, huh? Well, 321/seventh just beat KenPom's 124--the A-10's George Mason--in AU's season opener, 78-75 in overtime, on the road at Mason. 24 and 4 for Sa'eed Nelson, including the game-winning three-point play in the last minute of overtime, after AU fell down by four with a minute and a half to go. A double-double for Sam Iorio (17 and 13). Marvin Bragg added 16, including a monster three that gave us a chance to win in the last minute. Fourteen and six for Mark Gasperini, in his first game back after missing all of last season with a concussion. We're not finishing seventh in the PL.

Now don't look at me, NJJ, I've had your back all preseason! Great win, congratulations. Good luck at Northwesterm, make it 2 in a row!
Colgate's big guy transfer from Northwestern looks like he could be an impact player; BU playing well without Walter Whyte.......going to be extremely challenging I think to grab one of the top 4 seeds this year. PL at 7-7 so far; very respectable imho.
Oh - and for those who think our board is too tame and boring, is this better (warning: not appropriate for youngsters):

NJJ, This list is from Massey (Masseyratings.com). When it came out, AU had not yet played a game. I am sure the rating will go up, but if you have an issue direct it to the guy responsible...Massey. Nice win last night.

Nice win for American U. Eagles no doubt will be helped a lot by Gasperini's return. I think Iorio is the team's best player, although Nelson seems to get all the accolades despite being a pretty weak shooter

Not a great shooter, but a solid defender, facilitator, leader and decision maker—almost all the qualities needed for a top point

Another nice win for the PL today over the A-10 with Lafayette beating Lasalle. With all of this talk about how bad the PL was going to be this year, the league is off to one of its better starts in recent memory, including 3 wins against the A-10.

With all of this talk about how bad the PL was going to be this year, the league is off to one of its better starts in recent memory, including 3 wins against the A-10. Very good win for Lafayette. As I said when the PL preseason poll came out, while I was ticked off that AU was ranked seventh despite having the preseason player of the year, I would have been even more ticked off if I were Lafayette, which was picked ninth despite returning most of its squad from last season, starting with the PL rookie of the year in Alex Petrie, a really good guard in Justin Jaworski, several solid returning role players in Cherry, Stout and Zalys and a supposed quality big man recruit in Sean Good (I don't say "supposed" because I'm skeptical, only because none of us know if any recruit is good until we actually see him on the floor). The Leopards could be a much improved team this season.

With all of this talk about how bad the PL was going to be this year, the league is off to one of its better starts in recent memory, including 3 wins against the A-10. Here's where the PL has ranked among all conferences per Ken Pomeroy. I believe his rankings are based on offensive and defensive efficiency, not necessarily on W-L 14-15= #23 15-16= #27 16-17= #23 17-18= #27 18-19= #21 Of course, we know that we are comparing the opening game or two of this season to full seasons of the previous four years, that there is a lot of OOC play to go, etc.
