Given that Massey currently has Dartmouth THIRD, would it be reasonable to assume that the top two spots are currently held by NDSU and Princeton?

Love it! Colgate (6) is rated higher than every CAA team by Massey. Having seen these teams I'd say Colgate would be overwhelmed by JMU (8), SBU (9), Towson (11), Delaware (13) Elon (15). Probably #17 Maine too (they're playing well recently). Of all Colgate's nine victories, the only team at .500 or better is Georgetown (5-5). Colgate could very well host a CAA team first round....or even get a bye and host one second round. We'll see how they do.

Dakota St. #2 Princeton #4 S Dakota St #5 E. Washington Looks like someone believes Colgate is indeed better than any CAA team. Of course, Massey does not have a bias against anything PL. I guess we'll see head to head on the field come playoff time.

Might be off the topic but I honestly wonder how high up in the Massey FCS rankings Colgate would go if they beat West Point next week. Maybe we'll see. Colgate did beat a pretty weak (5-7) West Point team in 1987 so they have done it before.
More realistically, I wonder how high they'll fall (if at all) by losing to an FBS team next week.

Well, with a win they can't go "up" more than 2 spots...but a loss would probably not knock them out of the top 6 or 7.

The beauty of D-IAA football is that these polls might help seeding but the national champ will be decided on the field and if you want to be #1, you have to be willing to play and beat anyone.

...anyone in the FCS category, that is.
