Massey makes UMass a 5 point favorite (71-66) with a 65% chance for the win.
The Minutemen (their mascot once again carrying a musket) are currently 5-3. They have wins over MA-Lowell, UNH, Ark-Pine Bluff, S. Illinois and Quinnipiac. They have losses to Harvard, Howard and Nevada. Their biggest win was over S. Illinois. They have not had nearly as tough a schedule as HC has faced.
The game was played in Las Vegas - hence my error in listing opponents. Thanks for the correction.

I think this is one of the few times HC matches up size wise with UMass...JF at 6'8", Faw at 6'8" Grandi at 6'6" AB at 6'5" and CG at 5'11"

Massey has HC at #167 / UMass at #188. Massey also has UMass as a 4 point favorite (70-66) because of home court. He gives them a 63% chance for the win.

Holy Cross "Four Factors." More confirmation of KY's work, which suggests it's been the performance at the defensive end (other than boards) that has been most notable. Offensive Category, Rank EFG%, 185th - Average TO%, 48th - Excellent OR%, 318th - Poor FTR, 344th - Poor
Defensive . . . EFG%, 116th - Good TO%, 43rd - Excellent DR%, 308th - Poor FTR, 116th - Good

Any thoughts on why? Just experience?
I feel this is a huge week for the team. I think we all feel they are capable of winning either or both of these games, but will they? I know both UMass and URI are not at the top of their games, but they are still A-10 schools. Big week imo.

Agree this is a big week I will be disappointed if we don't win one of these games. UMass is an inconsistent team who I think will have trouble defending our backdoor cuts and solving the zone. URI is not playing well at all right now and is a dreadful shooting team 38% 2 point FG, 20% on threes and 64% from the line. Need to get at least one of these two.

I agree and I believe that defense and rebounding will be the keys. HC has shown that even on a poor 3-point shooting night we can still win (comfortably).

IMHO, one of the dumbest moves ever, by a PL team, was Fordham's move out of the PL And into the A-10.

The entire A10 collectively blows this season. Disagree. It may not have a dominant team, but Davidson, St. Louis, St. Joe’s, Dayton, VCU and Duquesne all can be pretty good.

The issue is you need a couple of teams in the top 40 and a ranked to ensure those at-large bids. Some people judge conferences by how many teams go dancing.
The MAC, for instance, had multiple bids into the 21 century. They still have some good teams and the same could be said for the present CUSA. The A10 will get better but think 3 bids will become the exception instead of the rule.
Do agree the A10 does not stink but is significantly down.

Good compared to what ? The top 5, no. But after that, it is much too early to decide. The A10 has a chance to get 2 or maybe 3 teams in the dance

To answer compared to what, is a fair point. Was comparing them to multi-bid conferences as a frame of reference. Apologize for the frame of reference comment and what a good conference is. Changed my post some and removed the other, which was a inappropriate comment and slip of my frustrations between the BB first and Football fans. The bashing of football with a stadium half full with years of non winning teams. Yet basketball has a few years of not a winning and attendance dives to 25-30% full range. You'll get a good seat if you come Tuesday. On the other hand hockey attendance is through the roof and shows how much support there are for winning programs.
