In what is essentially a toss-up, Massey makes HC a 1 point favorite (69-68) at BU with a 52% chance for the win.
The Terriers are coming off fur straight losses to Lehigh (A), American (H), Colgate (H) and Loyola (A). They have lost twice to American.
However, this is also a team that beat Bucknell at BU - where HC will play them on Wednesday.

BU gets the highest percentage of its points from inside the arc (61%) of any team in the country, and make 55% of their twos, ranking 38th in that department. They take fewer than a third of their shots from three.

This game will feature a match-up of arguably the two best interior players in the PL. Both Floyd and Mahoney rank among the conference's top five in a number of categories. . . . FG% - Floyd (1st), Mahoney (2nd) Offensive Rebounds - Mahoney (2nd), Floyd (5th) Efficiency Rating - Mahoney (1st), Floyd (4th) ORtg - Mahoney (2nd), Floyd (4th) Win Shares - Mahoney (1st), Floyd (5th) Box Plus/Minus - Mahoney (1st), Floyd (2nd)

BU gets the highest percentage of its points from inside the arc (61%) of any team in the country, and make 55% of their twos, ranking 38th in that department. They take fewer than a third of their shots from three. Max Mahoney takes 1/4th of those two point attempts and he is hard to stop, shooting .650 for the year. In recent games, Colgate limited him to 5 shots (2-5) and won by 21 and Lehigh limited to 8 (2-8) and won by 16. In contrast, he took 19 shots (11-19) against Loyola when BU lost in OT and 16 against American (11-16) when BU lost by 4. I'd like to see us keep the ball away from him or keep him from shooting. We held him to 9 shots (2-9) when we lost game 1 last year and to 7 attempts (2-7) when we won. BU is last in the conference in 3 point percentage at 30.4%

Floyd and Mahoney have combined for over 1,000 field goal attempts in their careers - not one has been taken from three.

Both BU and Holy Cross have been without the services of key sophomores. Niego hasn't played since December 8th, while Walter Whyte (an all-rookie selection last season) has missed the entire season.

Pomeroy has JF going 0-1 on threes in the Army game, but I don't remember him taking one. Oddly enough, in the last 2 games he was forced to take three pointers as the shot clock was about to expire. Neither one looked terrible imho.

Glad we cleared that up . . . Let's revise to say, "Neither Mahoney nor Floyd has any business taking a three point shot in this life or the next."

If we are going to turn this season around I think beating BU is imperative. They have been playing terrible basketball losing 4 in a row 3 by blowouts. We know American on the road next week will be very tough, can't afford to lose both these games if we're going to get back in the race.

IMHO, we can't lose either game. We've already blown too many games that we should have won. I see no wiggle room but maybe I am being overly pessimistic.

One game at a time. Right now, HC needs a win in Boston on Wednesday showing improvement in some of its recent shortcomings and continued growth of the new "cast members".

The good news is that this is a very winnable game and we are currently just one game out of fourth in the Patriot League.
Army now tied for first.
