Weber State is wearing all black Adidas uniforms with silver numbers tonight.
Very similar to the HC all black Adidas uniforms. Wonder if there are Weber State Alums gripping about the color choice for their Purple team. 🤣 So far they are winning, hope I don’t Jinx them. 😁
Weber State 17-10 over (ovah) the Grizz. So much for a Montana vs Montana State matchup this year in the playoffs.

Not saying we beat these teams this year...but we aren't far off....we need to make adjustments with red-shirts etc...but we could easily beat these teams if HC was serious about athletics

My purple tinted glasses are even more purple than yours but you cannot be serious.
We got beat pretty easily by Monmouth (44-27) who lost big to JMU who will likely lose to ND State.
I agree that with time, we could potentially get into the playoffs and win a game or two. National champs might be a bridge too far for the foreseeable future.
But the teams left in this year's playoffs are head and shoulders better than where we are now.

I've always thought the AI was the big killer as it hamstrings what is potentially our greatest strength in recruiting. Catholic high schools. The kids and their parents. Our admission folks now do not have the leeway to say that a kid's scores might not be super duper...but he has successfully navigated St Anthony's (NY) or St Joe's Prep (Philly) or Bergen Catholic or (Name your Catholic School) and should be just fine navigating HC's academics and therefore we'll take in this good kid to our school (and football squad). That is a sweet spot that avoids competition w/HYP and trumps (for the most part) the CAA and might land (beyond very good players) a future pro now and again. The very top FCS teams have very good players top to bottom and a few future pros sprinkled in.

Thanks for giving a shoutout to my high school alma mater. While I have posted that I probably couldn't get admitted to Holy Cross today, I am very confident that I could still get into my old high school. Might even be able to make "Duns Scotus Society" (if they still have that). I do get the Friar Magazine and check for where the senior athletes are heading with their NLI pictures. Don't recall any heading to Holy Cross recently, especially not football. Lots of stories about seniors, not just athletes, and what colleges they are interested in and not many list Holy Cross. Might just be a Franciscan/Jesuit thing.

You've certainly got me beat soundly as far as productivity goes. I slept late and then made some steel cut oatmeal with blueberries for breakfast for Mrs KY and myself. Other than lunch I won't be accomplishing a thing until the game starts.

In the light of day, these teams (watching NDSU now) are obviously better but they aren't quantum leap better than we are right now imo.
The Bison are at a different level perhaps...but they are basically at a different level from everyone else in the FCS as well.

Wow - QB under center. I formation with a TE. How could either Illinois State or NDSU ever imagine those kind of plays might work.

We can definitely play at this level btw...these teams aren't much bettah than we were this year.... HUH?!? These teams are WAY better than Holy Cross or anyone in the PL right now. Last year a legit Top 10 Colgate team (arguably better than their '03 team that reached the title game) went into the Fargo Dome and lost 35-0. These teams line play are at a Top 25'ish FBS level. They physically destroy teams from the PL, OVC, SoCon and Southland Conferences. Last year's Colgate team is probably the most physically tough PL team I've seen in the last 10-15 years yet they Bison just toyed with them. Lehigh took a legit Top 10 team into the Fargo Dome in 2011 hung pretty well but still lost 24-0, Holy Cross's team this year would have been steamrolled against the four semifinalists. They got pushed around by Monmouth. Holy Cross has a long way to go just to win a playoff game let a lone compete for a National Title given the PL restrictions. These teams are loaded with redshirts and FBS transfers.

They're good....they aren't that good...NDSU just beat Illinois St 9-3 in a game that setback offensive football 100 years.
My point is that we could reach or come close to that level (with some possible alterations in PL policy perhaps)...we were there in the 1980s.

If we'd beaten Monmouth this year, JMU beats us 55-0 without breaking a sweat. As you've stated ovah and ovah her and on AGS, NDSU and JMU are basically on a different level. Montana State has some athletes. Lets see what they can do at the FargoDome next week.

To provide some perspective---if you believe in Sagarin's calculations you'll see that No Dak State would be favored against 8 of the teams in the Big 10

They looked very pedestrian offensively today....frosh QB, they played VERY conservatively....lot of talent on NDSU..they could go FBS tomorrow and be decent. Kind of an outlier though....if we can continue to recruit well, develop a culture etc we won't be too far off the better FCS programs...maybe NDSU goes FBS in the meantime

A lot of bad offense in the games this weekend, highest score was 24-10.
Montana threw 5 interceptions and had a punt blocked.
And UNI (apparently had some injuries to some key skill players) didn't cross the 50 yard line until the final possession of the game, down by 17 points. As that game went on, JMU went ultra conservative, very confident that their defense wasn't going to let up any scores.

Yeah...saw the end of JMU and then much of the Montana-Weber games...very defense-oriented overall...not sure if that is a reflection of game-planning in the playoffs or not....in general they make for sort of tedious games imo
