I hope he wins the award every week. I also hope he cuts back on the turnovers

Going forward, would it make more sense to just assume that Joe P. will win the weekly award, and thus only post something in the unlikely event that he doesn't win it in a given week?

A terrific player, but he needs work on the stripe - he is so good at getting to the line (3rd in the conference in FTAs), can't afford to squander that advantage, especially in close games.

A similar flaw to last year’s DPoY, but Joe takes far more FTs. Probably a good thing that Navy did not foul Joe on our last possession

I only saw him once, and iirc, he was 2-2. I didn't see any hitch or other problem. You and others who played/coached obviously have a better eye for any issues with mechanics. He doesn't seem laser-focused

The only flaw I spot is he releases in the middle of his head instead of the right shoulder, but that does not need to have such bad results. He has taken 75 in 13 games, three times as many as the second player, Marlon. Maybe our shot doctor, BN, can change that in the offseason if he does not improve.

Here's an amazing statistic:
For the season, JP has had 75 FTAs. The next closest HC player is Hargis with just 25. Three times as many as the next closest player!!!?
For the season, he is 40/75 for .533.
He did hit 8 of 9 against Loyola and 5 of 6 against Mercer.
But 2 of 10 against Navy.

Might a player of the week award break his string of RoW Awards?

"On the season, Pridgen is averaging 16.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, while hitting 57.1 percent of his shots from the floor."
What's the big deal there? Are those such remarkable production/efficiency numbers?
Well, the last time a player averaged 16.5 or more PPG was in 2007-2008: Big Tim Clifford averaged 18.0 and he had the same 57.1% shooting percentage, but he averaged 5.4 rebounds per game. So he hit 2 of 3 of my artificial benchmarks
In 1995-96 Walter Brown averaged 17.3 PPG and 7.6 rebounds, but fell short on shooting percentage with .497. So, 2 of 3 again
In 1990-91 Jim Nairus also had the points (18.3) and boards (7.8) but also missed on shooting percentage at 49.0. 2 of 3.
in 1994-96 Rob Feaster scored a remarkable 25.0 PPG and grabbed 6.9 rebounds per game--missed on shooting percentage by a mile. So 2 of 3
Perhaps I should have gone straight to the guy many would have suggested: Chris Potter
As a senior he shot .592 (check) and grabbed 10.2 rebounds/game (check). He fell an eyelash short on points at 16.3 per game As a junior he got the points (19.1) and rebounds (9.7), but shot .524
In 1971-72 Jim Schnurr had the points and rebounds but fell just short on the shooting percentage.
I know these are artificial benchmarks, that the season is young, and I'm not suggesting that a first semester Joe Pridgen is the equal of Chris Potter or the other stars cited. Still, I thought this little exercise would help put his early performance into perspective.
Maybe he can even build on this through the balance of the season
