I think the pre-game conversation with Nelson on WEEI tomorrow will be informative. He seems to play things close to the vest.

From Today's Telegram, and Jen Toland's column..
HC's Nelson seeks stability Before the beginning of the season, Holy Cross men’s basketball coach Brett Nelson expected HC’s starting five to be fluid, and it has been as the Crusaders have used eight different starting lineups in their 13 games. Junior guard Austin Butler is the only player to start every game. “It has been fluid,” Nelson said Tuesday morning. “Some of it is due to injury and some of it is trying to figure out what lineup works best for certain games.” Nelson was pleased with the way his five starters played in Sunday’s 74-62 loss at Siena. Freshman Joe Pridgen, junior Connor Niego, Butler, freshman Ryan Wade and sophomore Marlon Hargis logged most of the minutes (Wade all 40), with just junior Matt Faw (15 minutes) and senior Clayton Le Sann (seven) coming off the bench. “I thought we played well against Siena,” Nelson said. “We came out and competed.” The Crusaders (1-12) will practice Wednesday morning at the Hart Center before departing for its Patriot League opener at Loyola Thursday night. It was obviously a very tough outof-conference slate for first-year coach Nelson and the Crusaders, who suffered the worst loss in program history to Northeastern and fell in overtime to Division 3 UMass Boston, but Nelson’s outlook remains positive. “I think we’re getting better,” he said. “The win-loss record isn’t indicating that, but I see us improving in some areas, rebounding being one of them and some individual guys getting better and better. We’re continuing to grow the culture together as a group and we’re excited for league play.” Pridgen, a 6-foot-5, 210-pound forward from Winchendon, is averaging a team-best 16.3 points per game and ranks second on the team in rebounds (7.5 rpg). He earned his fourth straight Patriot League Rookie of the Week honor after scoring 17 points on 8-of-16 shooting and totaling nine rebounds against Siena. Pridgen leads all PL freshmen in scoring and rebounding and ranks fourth overall in both categories. “I’m not surprised at what he’s doing,” Nelson said. “He’s been very consistent at practice with his work habits and with his attitude. I ask our guys to bring maximum effort and unselfish attitude each and every day, and he does that. His play is showing that. We’re really proud of Joe and the strides he’s made, and he’s just scratching the surface. I think his best basketball is going to continue to be ahead of him if he continues with the same work ethic and path he’s on now.” Freshman guard Drew Lowder, who is averaging 14.3 ppg, did not play at Siena and missed his second straight game due to a “coach’s decision,” Nelson said. “He will be available for Loyola and we’ll continue to push forward.”

The word unselfish seems to be repeated in every statement.
I hope those sitting soon realize Nelson rewards the right behaviors and effort. Doubt he will accept anything less.
His purpose reminds me of a younger version of a former coach that came to HC with head coaching experience and within a couple of years turned the sail boat in the right direction. Turning a ship (football) usually takes longer than changing directions on a sail boat (basketball), but the captain is critical to success. So football is moving now, basketball is a year away.
Brighter days ahead and tomorrow will be better than today!!!

Important for the journey to keep players involved, but this is about the destination and he will get this right for the school, the team, the players, and the fans

I think we've already seen what Lowder being available means ...

Perhaps. Each situation needs to be seen in its own light. The only ones who need to know details are the coach and Lowder himself.

I like the coach's discipline. Set the pattern now when the team is probably not going to have a winning season anyway, and you won't have to endure any missed minutes from key players later when HC will be competing for championships.

Whether injury or something else has kept him out of the last couple of games, I will be shocked if Lowder doesn’t play tonight.

lowder also with team for nye service project. i am hopeful he plays tonight. I would certainly hope so. If he's on the team he should be participating in team activities. If he was so injured he couldn't work a soup kitchen he wouldn't dress. IF he was being punished for something, not letting him go to the soup kitchen isn't much punishment At some point today, HC will have some sort of tweet with the starting 5. That should tell us if Lowder will play. I am assuming if he plays, he will start rather than come off the bench
