We really need to solve the point guard issue.I am shocked we don't see more back court pressure from the opposition. We could use help everywhere, but PG has got to be the priority now, if there is any possibility of another 2020 scholarship being available. I have reason to believe that's Nelson's top priority, too.
One of the reasons we don't get pressured by our opponents may be that it hasn't been generally in their nature to do so. Since Lowder was benched . . .
Opponent TO% Rank Sacred Heart, 332nd Siena, 246th Loyola, 182nd Navy, 205th Lafayette, 352nd Bucknell, 123rd Army, 276th American, 148th
May not be a coincidence that Holy Cross' highest TO rate during this stretch came against Bucknell (28%) and AU (19%) - the two teams that have been above average in turning over their opponents this year. Looking ahead, BU (289th) hasn't shown itself to be particularly disruptive.

I’m surprised he’s still in (or back in ) MA My personal speculation is that the only reason for him to be in MA is that he's going to school here. We were told he left the team. We were told he's in the portal. No one ever said he left the school. I will further speculate that it is more likely that he's a student at Holy Cross than grabbing some credits at Worcester State or some other MA school. Just my interpretation of things we know I believe I read some info last summer which may have been in a link provided by Bison137, that said a student-athlete who enters the transfer portal between semesters maintains their scholarship status through the following semester.

1. You sat much closer to the court than I did last night 2. Your younger eyes perhaps catch things that mine don't 3. I didn't see any conversation between BN and MF immediately after he hurt his ankle 4. I don't care if Matt says he wanted to stay in. He was hopping down the court and he should have come out. Competitors, and that's what Matt is, don't ever want to come out. My concern was less for the results of this game than the longer term effects if he aggravated an already obvious injury.

Fantastic win. Personnel shortcomings aside, this group is clearly working hard, establishing a culture, and getting coached up. Keep doing that for the next ~2 months, hopefully get a few more conference wins to build on, and let's get some reinforcements in here next fall.
Not saying there won't be more clunker games ahead when the shots aren't falling, but I'm fairly confident saying that we've seen rock bottom and it is in the rear view mirror.

CLS is a very good distributor. He's surprising me I must admit.

Re: Matt Faw and shot blocking. Matt was already a decent shot blocker coming into this season. Here's where he stood compared to some other bigs of this century
Blocks per 40 Minutes
1.9= Matt Husek-career 1.5= Matt Faw in his first 2 seasons 1.3= Eric Meister-career (EM holds the HC record for blocks in a game with 9 versus Army) 1.2= Dave Dudzinski-career 1.0= John Hurley
This season, however, Matt has really stepped it up as others have commented on above. Here's where he stands this season versus the careers of HC;s all-time shot blockers
3.2= Eric Obeysekere 3.0= Jehyve Floyd 2.92= Josh Sankes 2.92= Tim Clifford 2.88= Matt Faw this season to date 2.4= Nate Lufkin

The grudge-holding Irish side of me is really happy Lowder saw that win in person 🤷♂️ You've no doubt heard of "Irish Alzheimer's"? People who have it only remember the grudges

You mean HC is in for the full ride for the entire academic year? Well, if that's the rule, that's the rule. At least the kid did well enough in school that it's worth it for him to stay around and finish the year; I was worried that with everything else that's gone on with him he wasn't doing the job in the classroom.

Only watched on very small screen on phone but looked like Faw tweaked the ankle after making a nice steal, then fouled as he went for layup, after the whistle he continued to hoop for a dunk and then came down awkwardly and was limping

It was nice to see RW attempt to take the ball to the basket a few times last night. Although it's obvious he's not comfortable doing it and in general he's not a confident ball handler he's going to have to diversify his offensive game. I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone else playing as many minutes as he has taking more than 80% of his shots from beyond the arc.

I watched it this morning, had no idea about the score.
The only thing I knew for a fact was that the length of the broadcast said 2:31, so when LU was about to inbound the ball after HC tied it up,I was real sure it went to OT, given that the time elapsed was 2:00 or thereabouts.
Speaking of ankle injuries, they showed a closeup of the Lehigh kid spraining his; that was nasty.
One observation: right now Nelson's offense appears ahead of his defense. Perhaps simply a sign of who Carmody recruited. Rebounding clearly better with Nelson, I would say.

Coach Nelson was yelling to Matt as he got back on D. Matt said he was good. It was not a private sideline conversation, but Coach Nelson standing in front of the scorer's table yelling during play I agree with point 4

They won for one reason only. With 30 something left, down three, they fouled Cohen. I picked up my jacket and left. In the car, he heard Lusk say it’s overtime!. I did not return. Nice comeback win! Guess you could say: similar to declaring someone guilty before all the evidence is in? !

On a side note...sader1970 come over at halftime and said: "yeah, what do you think?" I replied that we are a second half come from behind team, just like football, and will win! !

Nice highlight film. My three favorite plays:
(1) Wade draining the three pointer to tie the game (2) Matt Faw left handed little hook on a drive (3) Nice drive but Joe Pridgen misses and Butler in traffic taps the ball out to Matt Faw for the three pointer (4) Joe P creative drive for layup

The guy couldn't buy a bucket for several games now. Same with Hargis, can't understand why he's not shooting better. His shots always look good coming out of his hand.

I think he lacks confidence in his game... something he has time to work on with the coach... when down 17, I thought the coach might put him back in... but then the rally started

I don't think Wade was ready to play this many minutes as a freshman, but it appears that he is starting to get a feel for D1 college basketball and has clearly improved from the start of the season. Not ideal to have this much of the D1 acclimation process occur during games, but hopefully it will pay dividends down the road for him.
