Right now, there is next to no connection between Holy Cross and the DCU Center. It would be nice if even a marginal connection develops between HC winter sports and the downtown arena.

Suggestion to all posters: Don't bother posting a link that is blocked by a paywall unless you do what Phreek does on occasion and copies it under "fair use" or write a small summary of what the article says in your own words. Otherwise, why bother because if other posters are subscribers to the media, they have probably already seen the story. The rest of us, not so much, and a link tells us next to nothing.

Since I am the one you seem to have directed this : I obviously could not read the article due to the paywall, thus I could not summarize it. i included it in my post since in the past some posters who subscribe to the T and G do post the article.

Yours was the instant case but not intended directly or solely to you. FWIW, the link you posted seems to direct to the Boston Globe as often non-subscribers can still see T&G articles.

And, just tried again and after closing the plea to subscribe (I didn't), here is what it said:
I couldn't copy the picture that went with the article but it was the stock photo of Trump putting the Medal of Freedom on Cousy's neck.
For whatever reason, this didn't work the first time I tried and indeed was blocked by the paywall. Go figure.

Will the statue depict Cousy in an HC uniform or a Celtics uniform? I’m guessing Celtics.

FWIW, once during causal conversation we were given permission to copy and paste Telegram articles. I am a subscriber and do cut and paste when I cite the Telegram

For some reason, I am able to see the Telegram articles that are linked to. I think that they give me a few free visits before cutting me off, since I registered. FYI.

Nevah gets old. There's a ___% chance that Coach Nelson turns the program around and we bang out the DCU against somebody good before he leaves.

No one good is ever coming to Worc these days, and the era of UMass being great and drawing big is long gone.
Short of any future NCAA Tourney games at the Centrum, there's no chance the place is getting "banged out" for a CBB game ever again.

Also receiving honorary doctorate degrees were Ann (Ash) Zelesky and basketball legend Bob Cousy.
Zelesky is a 1973 graduate of Worcester State University graduate and has been active in Central Massachusetts athletics as an athlete, coach, athletic administrator and mentor and friend.
Cousy starred in basketball for the College of the Holy Cross and Boston Celtics and was later a broadcaster. He was unable to be at the DCU Center in person on Saturday. Instead, a video was played of Cousy receiving his honorary degree at his home.
Cousy told those watching, in reference to his statue, which stands outside the DCU Center, "I'm the half-naked statue that waved at you from the outer lobby coming in." He had one request for the graduating class as they pass by his statue again: "Wipe the pigeon poop off my nose, please." He wished the graduates well and, to cheers and applause, said, "Thank you for allowing an old jock to play a small role."

Cooz might not be too mobile but he hasn't lost his wit and charm.
