Hello all,
With the current global situation currently un us, I thought it might be a good time to rally the troops to create something I would love to see: a database of old Holy Cross athletics contest videos publicly accessible online. The College archives department has a treasure trove there, but most of it is not online.
I figure that there are many of us who have old VHS/DVD copies of games in our possession. Converting them digitally and postng them on YouTube would be AMAZING.
Here are three that I found quickly out on YouTube at present:
Blaney/Shea/Foley 1961 NIT vs PC:
NCAA 2002 vs Kansas:
NCAA 2003 vs Marquette:
If you have others in your possession, let's mobilize to create an incredible database of memories! There has to be some awesome ones out there somewhere...

NCAA 2003 vs Marquette: If you have others in your possession, let's mobilize to create an incredible database of memories! There has to be some awesome ones out there somewhere... Watching now. That was not goal tending by Lufkin on the put back with about 12:30 left in the second half. Horrible call.

Loved watching, thanks for posting. Two ball saving timeout calls by MU which looked impossible to make

Watching that again, knowing the outcome, so many if only moments. Here’s one f the most critical
HC with the ball down 57 - 56 Brian Wilson hit a pull-up jumper to put HC up 58 - 57 with 4:54 left Travis Diener launches a straight away 3 with 4:42 left and misses. Long high rebound. Nate Lufkin stretches back over his left shoulder and tips the ball but can’t secure the rebound at 4:39 Marquette player comes up with the ball, shovels it back to Diener who drains the second attempt at a 3. HC down 2 with 4:36 left. Ugggh!
If only Nate had been able to grab that ball.
And on a side note ... Jave Meade! Wow. What a game. So easy to forget how good he was and how he made that team go.

I was at the '61 game. Wow what memories. Lived and died for the bball team. The Shot's jumper at 4:15 is a perfect view of his jumper, both elbows locked, arms straight up, a flick of the wrist. No wonder the NYC scribes fell in love with him. Blaney & Shea--"best back court tandem in the East." Did Ray, future Boston Mayor, play in that game for Providence? Paddy's Day Weekend, six guys crashing in a hotel room. All the girls were in the Commodore--no boys allowed above the first floor. Drinking beer was the cool thing. Drugs? What's that? Precious indelible memories.

Watching replays of the Marquette game just tortures my soul.
That HC team imho was missing just 1 piece: a Keith Simmons/Malcolm Miller kind of athlete with size that could take it to the tin (you know, the kind Coach Nelson is looking for these days). With that, the rest of the roster, and the way RW coached them, that was a team that could have won not just 1, but possibly 2 games in that tournament. Everything else was in place.

Ray Flynn was a sophomore and averaged 5.8 points a game. Unless he was injured or the coach didn't play him in that game, he participated.
John Thompson was a freshman and therefore not eligible.

Love the announcers joking about the HC defense ... looks like a zone, plays like a zone, but it isn't a zone, or is it?

Love the announcers joking about the HC defense ... looks like a zone, plays like a zone, but it isn't a zone, or is it? That is why RW had such a hard time scheduling! Nobody wanted to play against the D......I believe it was part of the reason he decided to leave, he was very frustrated trying to get games..Jim Calhoun outright said he wouldn't play HC because of the D we played!

Not only wouldn't schedule HC, but actually used his pull to get HC moved to a different bracket of a tournament to avoid a possible 2nd round match up

Had seats under the basket for that one...the HC defense was amazing! I kept expecting to get run over by someone running into the stands (and up my face!).
