The first question that comes to mind is instructed by who and if who is outside of the college or university, who says it is going to happen.

Has to be the administrations at their own schools as every college is trying to figure out how to get some extra cash quickly. Guarantee games are an obvious way to do that pretty easily. Of course, the next tweet is going to be “Multiple P5 schools are being told to eliminate guarantee games.”

Who's going to guarantee ANYTHING right now? The games might be played, sure, but maybe in front of no one and tv payouts for those games are iffy.

Moreover, if any games are going to be cancelled, it's going to be the OOC guarantee games. If anything, schools should be instructing their coaches to schedule more guarantee games for 2021-2022.
