I hope our game with UConn is still on for Sep 2 or 4 - I see that they announced today they are playing Yale on Oct 16th - 2 FCS games is probably a good idea for UConn They are no longer in the AAC and now are playing an indy schedule. Take what you can get. To be honest, I'm surprised they had the cojones to schedule Yale. But this isa good thing for football in the region.

Sure they only scheduled Yale as a necessity but that's OK. Good game for CT and New England. Wish other Ivies weren't as afraid of scheduling up.
UConn should just schedule a home and home with UMass every year. Would help both out schedule wise.

If Yale is still on the 2021 schedule, HC has a chance to be football champs of Connecticut! No one else has 3 scheduled games against the 4 CT teams, I'm sure.

Interesting but Saban won't be the coach then so it will be interesting to see how the games are.

Gillette perhaps? Or a neutral site. It says "versus". Far cry from last time Bama came to Foxboro at the old place and there was a power failure.

The BC-Bama home and home in the 80s (83-84?) last time they played each other?
Wasn't that power failure game in a monsoon?

You nailed it gks....next year BC went down there and won after trailing by 17. National TV Saturday night game, beginning of Flutie's Heisman run.
I think they were close to having to suspend the game when the lights came back on. Afternoon game, but very dark.

Game will obviously be at Gillette and will probably sell out Gillette, unless Alabama really drops off when Saban retires. Hard to believe "The Razor" will be 30 years old by then. And the true freshmen that will play in the 2034 Tuscaloosa game are currently 4 years old.

We actually don't play CCSU anymore because UCONN replaced them on the schedule IIRC. Very possible that the Huskies could be the worst DI program in the state right now, behind Yale, SHU and Central.

They are dominant players in their pre-school leagues

Do pre-schools have strength and conditioning coaches?

One of the stories "floating around" out there is that Bama actually approached HC about a home and home (our home being Schaefer Stadium) series back then but we declined and BC took it up (see Big East membership).....can anyone here confirm this?

Yes....got it straight from Rick Carter. Brooks sat next to Paul Bear Bryant at a Heisman luncheon/dinner. Somehow they hit it off in conversation. Bryant was aware of HC's early success under Carter and mentioned a desire to play a game in the Northeast and asked if Brooks would be interested. Brooks returned to campus and consulted with Perry and Carter. Rick told Brooks to give him 2 years to continue to upgrade recruiting and schedule the game. Brooks decided against it and Bama turned to BC.

When I repeat this story, I am going to tell people that HC didn't get the game because Brooksie asked him if he got a free bowl of soup with that hat.

If I remember correctly the meeting between Fr. Brooks and Bear Bryant was mentioned in “The Man to See”. I’ll have to take a look in my copy of the book.

I can also confirm the request of Alabama to play Holy Cross - home and home or $250,000 to play at Alabama. Brooks decided no after his Big East decision to preserve academic integrity.
Brooks also turned down Liberty Bowl to play Notre Dame, Independence Bowl and Gator Bowl opportunity within the next few years. Holy Cross football was ranked #33 of all football teams with Lockbaum & Duffner coached teams.
Great national publicity of the college was squandered during the 80's.....
Chesney has the capability to make football relevant again and provide challenges to the P5 schools.

Very few FCS coaches are lifers at this level.

I’m a huge proponent of Chesney, but it’s time to prove ourselves and win some meaningful OOC and playoff games before we start challenging Power Fives.

I’ve lost count. Are BC, Syracuse or Navy P5? How about Air Force and Army?
