MB meeting last week mentioned that Nelson was selected because of his squeaky clean background was needed in light of the FBI investigation. Did anyone pick that up?

The whole miscreant nonsense is getting old; as if guys like CN,AB, JP, DL, BV, JG and the others are tainted because of the actions of a few knuckleheads. It's like implying that anyone that lived on Ted Bundy's street was a psychopath. Really getting old, and insulting to guys that haven't done anything wrong.

Would someone PM me to give me the scoop on the two "episodes" and the "investigation?" I know nothing about them other than that some players were released. Thanks.

Funny video but in Nelson's defense he never mentions the word culture in the interview. Nor a sea change or paradigm shift.

Presumably the FBI investigation into various college hoops programs and sneaker companies. It has been reported here that Rick Pitino was interested in the HC job before landing at Iona. He was involved in the FBI investigation.. Apparently, HC wanted to shy away from that kind of person.

One might think that, and auto correct can get out of control sometimes. However, since there were not two criminal violations, My guess is that by two violations he is referring to Cohen as one and the Charles gang as the second.

I assume those are the two instances in question. One at least not criminal so I was curious of "crimson" wasn't a typo for "criminal" what it meant

You can’t possibly be that naive, can you? This is not a criticism of the coach, but don’t you think this was standard coach speak and might have been said by any other coach at any other program? in the business world, this would be like getting excited because a new ceo talks about "moving the needle", "breaking down silos", "value add", "thinking outside the box", "getting granular", etc. while i like our recruits, talk is cheap and nothing said about wanting winners, building a program, etc. is in any way novel. if bbc had not been so critical of literally everything camody did, his excitement over this standard coach speak could indeed be viewed as naive exuberance.

I don't believe there were any convictions and can't remember any arrests or any NCAA sanctions so while "miscreants" might be proper for those involved a few years ago, "criminal" might not be. And of the ten players who have left this past year, there isn't any reason to think any of them are less than high class, high character people evidenced by no instances of any of them trashing or even criticizing the program, the school, the coach or teammates that I know of. And this in a social media era when people can get trashed online for having a hair out of place.

It's like implying that anyone that lived on Ted Bundy's street was a psychopath. Really getting old, and insulting to guys that haven't done anything wrong. Just going by what we know: 1) Two separate criminal* incidents (sorry, "crimson" was an auto-correct in previous post) for Carmody recruits leading to four players (3 schollie, 1 preferred walk-on) being chucked 2) Outrageous number of Carmody recruits transferring out from a place like Holy Cross. While this certainly does not taint any individuals who were not involved in said criminal incidents, it does shed light into the recruiting and culture established by Carmody & Co. Based on the evidence at hand, character may not have been a critical part of the recruiting evaluation process (vis a vis 3-point shooting, for example) and a culture did not exist that closely linked the players to each other and the school. But unless you're just a naive hater, it's apparently very clear that Nelson came in and blew up a well-oiled machine! *The term "criminal" above is meant to refer to crimes, e.g. homicide, assault, credit card theft, arson, illegal gambling, tax evasion, etc. etc.^ ^This is not an official law definition

Only time will tell, but let’s hope Nelson’s recruits are different from those who left, personally and athletically.

I have talked to a few of them, as well as I’ve talked to some of the guys who have recently transferred (pre-transfer). I will say there is a definite difference in the attitude of the two groups, the incoming guys being much more upbeat and willing/able to have a conversation with me while the now-transferred had much more of a “me myself and I” attitude.

I’ve been reading it for a while just never had my account approved. I’ve reached out to players via social media often. DaJion Humphrey is one heck of a kid and says a lot that stands out to me whenever we talk.

The Crusaders will have seven new players next season — six freshmen, including former Worcester Academy stars Judson Martindale and Mike Rabinovich, and junior Malcolm Townsel, a transfer from State Fair Community College in Sedalia, Missouri. “The seven newcomers I’m really excited about,” Holy Cross coach Brett Nelson said Tuesday. “They come from winning backgrounds. In the recruiting process, you’re able to build some relationships and find out about them. We needed upgrades in different areas, but I think they’re competitors. They have the humility where they want to grow. “They really love the game. They have a joy to work. They’re good people, they’re high character, and they’re going to represent our program on and off the floor in a high-class way, so I’m excited about it.” Winning Culture? State Fair Community College went 16-14 this past season and 2-7 in their conference. In 2018-2019, they went 12-16 to and 3-5 in conference. Of all the targets for an HC hater to shoot at in a target-rich environment, this is the one you pick??? Montgomery 2x State champ Humphrey 2x State Champ (favored inl oto win third this year before season cut short) Johnson State Runner-Up Martindale and Rabinovich 22-7 at Worcester Academy Coulibaly 10-2 Townsel 28-4 his senior year Reilly 2x State champ

Hopefully you asked him more insightful questions than the T&G did. T&G dances around the ugly part of the program, so they don’t ask the questions that fans really want the answers to. Sadly I have not been able to connect with Coach Nelson, but the players will do for me as I’m around the same age as most of them. I can say a lot of the incoming guys know how last year went (can’t ignore it) but believe this class will be able to turn this around, and quick. As of now, I’ll just take I’ll believe it when I see it but I hope they can back it up
