Rod played freshman ball at HC. He was head coach at UC-Irvine for a number of years and I also believe he coached the Harlem Globetrotters for a season.
I played against him---intramural football

On the other hand. he did have back to back undefeated seasons when he coached the Globetrotters

Little known, but Rod coached the Rochester Razor Sharks, in the original ABA, then the Premier Basketball League, from 2005-12, to a 148-36 record and 4 championships with 3 times coach of the year.
