HC recently offered TJ Power out of St Johns Shrewsbury. Coach Chesney has been mining his back yard for football players, but who was the last SJ Shrewsbury grad to play basketball at HC

Slow responding. Jon Kerr is the last I remember.
No research on my part, simply my off the top of my head memory

...and the last CMass player from anywhere? Van Der Bomb, right?
Or Patrick if you count his year at WA, but he's from Wellesley.

I suppose it depends on your definition of central MA. I would say the most recent central MA guy was Joe Pridgen

Back to St John's. . .
Jon Kerr played during the Raynor years of no scholarships. Hoops legacies Sean Foley and Terry Blaney walked on during the late 80's (at least I think they walked on). I have no clue who the last kid from St Johns to be a scholarship player at HC was

I'll go with Gerry Foley from the late 60's.

I'll go with Gerry Foley from the late 60's. He played on probably the best HC freshman team, ‘65-66(The class of ‘69) Siudut, Texeira, Foley, Mullane, Moore, ( Christof-6th man) In some ranking we were behind only UCLA: Alcindor, Allen, Shackleford, Heitz. Definitely the best freshman team ever. 3 national championships, 2 losses

That freshman team was really great to watch! Thanks for bringing back some very nice memories.

hchoops takes the Michael Corleone view of transfers Fredo, you're nothing to me now. You're not a brother, you're not a friend. I don't want to know you or what you do.

Judson Martindale just misses the cut for most recent CMass player, as Sudbury is right on the western edge of the Eastern Mass MIAA footprint (although same deal as Pat Benzan, playing at WA).

Expectations were very high and even with Texeira opting not to play, I had thought '67-'68 and '68-'69 would be much better. I was gone by then but it seemed that only Siudut really developed as expected.

Varsity is very different from freshman ball. Only BC and Providence were challenging freshman games.
