Nice win in that tournament, followed by a loss to Clemson then one of the most ignominious losses in HC history to Mississippi State.

I was not a fan of HC basketball yet at that time but even I felt the pain looking at that PBP.

I recall almost experiencing The Fred Sanford Experience at work. I was at my desk; checked the score with about 30 seconds left. Feeling great, I printed off a few things and went over to the group copier to pick them up. I come back to my desk and find out they lost. Nearly lost it.

Much less stressful.

KY, might we be in agreement that subsequently, a loss at home to non-D1 UMass Boston might be even more ignominious?

Both brutal-- UMB a D-3 team and any D-1 team should be able to win those games with, generally, a big advantage in size and quickness. The Mississippi State game was beyond comprehensionbecause we had top make mistake after mistake after improbable mistake to give up the win.

Losing to Williams with a better team than what lost to UMB was no fun, either. Of course, Williams was better than UMB. Couple of others, looking back: Loss to UNH to break UNH's long, long losing streak. Believe HC wasn't a bad team that year, either. Also, losing to Assumption in the 80s when they were shell of what they were in the 70s.

Losing at Sacred Heart right before New Years in 2007-2008 season was another one I remember that stung. That year we had a solid OOC run. Following the Sacred Heart loss, we dropped PL opener in Easton (first vs worst from year prior), a game I attended. And it was downhill from there that year.

There was the win against #5 Cincinnati in 75 at the Rainbow Classic and then a few years later in the Garden

I listened to the Rainbow Classic game on a Cincinnati radio station -640??? On the radio dial on a transistor in bed as my wife and son-asleep in the room-so afraid when I jumped and yelled at the buzzer I would be in deep trouble --i was forgiven 🏀😎😇

Mentally preparing ourselves for the upcoming season

On this first day of winter, I count myself as one of the optimists going into the uncertainty of this basketball season and all things associated with Covid-19 and 2020.
Perhaps based on hope and prayer, I think our length and body strength might make us a more difficult match-up for our opponents in the league. If we are quicker, and we can defend inside, we might surprise many in the league! If, however we limit the change to playing faster, perhaps it will take a few seasons to turn this around. Regardless I am excited for the season to begin.
Unfortunately the only thing we and the opponents know about this team comes from a couple of video clips and conversations with the coach and AD. That is the same for all but Army and Navy.
The PL basketball season is days away, as is Christmas, and for my wish I have asked Santa to make sure that the overall improvement this year include the game management decisions by coaches and they develop players offensively and defensively so we have an opportunity to improve and win games
Merry Christmas one and all, and take good care!
