Starting lineup: Gates - Martindale - Faw - Johnson and Butler 2 frosh, 2 srs and one soph BU is a very physical team so Gates and Faw have to hold their own and stay out of foul trouble

2 frosh, 2 srs, and a junior I think.
Ever the optimist I am going to interpret this to mean that Judson Martindale is the difference maker that we hoped he might be as we evaluated his WA games and highlight reel. No, I am not putting pressure on a freshman.
I can't wait to see Gates in action.

No starting position for Ryan Wade?

Hopefully it means we're in a position where minutes are being earned and not given by default which was the case in many instances last year.

It also could mean we are playing bigger with two good sized wings in Butler and Martindale. Plenty of minutes off the bench to go around for Wade to compete for.

I'm interested in learning how Townsell's experience will translate into D-1.

No, I am not putting pressure on a freshman. Martindale is going to be special, imho. Very good shooter out to and beyond the arc, who sets up his outside game with explosive drives and finishes at the rim from either side of the circle - maybe the best rim attacker since Malcolm. He is equally adept kicking into drive with either hand - if he is overplayed on his shooting hand (right), he loves blowing by his man with his left - wouldn't be surprised if that's how he gets his first collegiate basket.
I like Rabinovich coming off the bench early - solid skill set in and around the paint at both ends, smart rebounder, but has shown knack for getting into some foul trouble. A hard-working, lunch-bucket kid who will get steadily better.

Butler, as we know, doesn't do well attacking the rim from a set. Presume Humphreys or Montgomery, who are quicker and can elevate, will spell him

On the Athletics web site (Game Notes) under Probable Starters these players are listed.

On the Athletics web site (Game Notes) under Probable Starters these players are listed. emphasis on "probable" IIRC, there were lots of times last year when the actual starters did not match the actual starters. As the season progressed, the probable starters were frequently just the guys that started the previous game

Just a quick note on COVID test results this morning. 262 test results reported this morning already. (These were the results of tests given on Sunday.) Four student positives, one staff positive. Likely the positives were students returning to campus after the holidays, and not members of the hoops and ice hockey teams, but if a game is postponed, there is the likely reason.
