Dean - please consider a catch-all category for virus talk, so those who have had enough of it don't have to see it in every thread.

The NY Times has a vaccine tracker. www.nytimes.com/interactive/2020/us/covid-19-vaccine-doses.htmlAs of yesterday, 36 million doses distributed, 16.5 million shots administered. State by state, shots as a percentage of doses distributed. ND 74% CT 56% NY 51% RI 46% NJ 48% MA 45% CA 37% AL 29% _______________ There have been 510,000 cases in prisons and jails, and 2,200 inmate and corrections officer deaths. Both Federal and state prison officials are releasing prisoners early to release density. Some of the releases are under court order, e.g., San quentin. And one of the Boston papers had an article last week about hundreds of doses being thrown out because they hadn’t been administered, and there were concerns about their shelf life. C’mon man!!!

Let's hope the PL is able to continue. Do you know if any of the HC athletes have started getting a vaccine? I hope they don't get it before me. I'm halfway to the glue factory.

The bubble the student athletes at HC have been in since the Fall is about to go away.

In my opinion, there needs to be a large federal program to administer the vaccine in special distribution centers, using the National Guard, in addition to these local efforts. The scale of the administration needed is massive and daunting. It sounds like that is where the new administration is going.

The production of the vaccine seems to be on track w/Biden's 100 million in 100 days; but it's a needless tragedy if it doesn't get "into people's arms" when it could have; and an utter disgrace if any of it's wasted, even if it means give it to individuals who would otherwise not qualify yet; there's ways to do that.

Anyone want to actually contribute to the title of the thread? Like how many games got banged today?

Sorry if this is getting too political, but this really isn't any different than what was already happening, as close to 1,000,000 vaccines were already being administered each day.

The scale of the administration needed is massive and daunting. It sounds like that is where the new administration is going. Some states are currently using the National Guard (these are essentially state level forces). In some cases the issue has been administration of shots and in some cases the purchase and distribution of the vaccine.

Most conferences have left one week open toward the end of the season to make up these postponements Some schools are already playing every other day.

The last week or so the average is about 800,000+ per day (highest daily was about 1million). That's great news, do you have a source?

I agree it is great! (And it is actually 912,497 doses average over the last seven days. ... the citation below shows 1.5 doses were actually given the last day of Trump’s presidency ...it is funny how sources can phrase things ....) www.bloomberg.com/graphics/covid-vaccine-tracker-global-distribution/

Both BC basketball programs had games canceled this weekend. The men midweek (it was either Tuesday or Wednesday) and this Saturday against Pitt. The women got canceled on Sunday against Pitt and I think Florida State this upcoming Wednesday.

/\ I thought I read those games were postponed due to covid protocols. (I know postponements may eventually turn into cancellations.)

Some people use "cancelled" and "postponed" interchangeably. Newscasters and sports writers do this far too frequently. In this case, I believe you are correct that they have been postponed. Of course, during this pandemic, vocabulary is probably the least of everyone's concerns.

Not so sure about that, Rob. We still are fixated here on the proper use of “fewer” vs. “less.” 😉😂
