actually a 5pm start in Waltham - Bentley has been rocked by postponements (cancellations ?) and have a 1-5 record and have not played in over 5 weeks - their most recent game was Dec 19th We've been pretty lousy lately so it would be nice to get this one

HC won 2 games from Bentley each by 1 goal in OT. Today, HC trails 3-0 and seems out of it. What has Bentley done that HC has not managed?

Game has gotten out of hand in the third, as Bentley goes up, 5-1. Radomsky in for Gordon in goal.

FINAL. Bentley, 5-2.
Six straight losses. And four of the next six are against the best team in the conference.

Definitely seems like the wheels have fallen off. I thought maybe, just maybe, this was going to be the year we’d finally turn the corner. Doesn’t seem likely at this point. I believe Berard has one more year left in his contract after this one.

The results during the Berard era have been frustrating to say the least. It seems like every year is the same. HC plays a few HE and ECAC opponents, puts in solid performances and a few surprising victories, and conference play arrives just to be let down by inconsistency. The playoffs follow and we have nothing to show for it except for an early round exit. To be honest, I'm not sure if it's a coaching problem or more institutional, but the results haven't been there. Given the unexpected switch with the Men's Lax program recently, I wouldn't be surprised if Blossom is focused on Berard's role next. That's not to wish any ill-will on Berard as he seems like genuinely good guy, but the clock has no doubt been ticking in recent years

Has Berard lost the locker room or the program?

If the issue is Institutional support, it is hard to imagine much extra resources being available soon. Berard has the proper pedigree, not too different in his path to head coach from Blossom's in his journey to AD, and he should be a solid mid career pro. But what makes a winning coach has a touch of mystery which makes it all the more fascinating.

Berard absolutely seems like a solid guy and he seems very well respected in hockey circles. It just hasn’t worked out for whatever reason. If it’s institutional, we should poop or get off the pot. Continuing to be mediocre to poor every year in the worst D1 conference isn’t really yielding any benefits for the school other than increasing our number of Canadians in each class. It was widely believed by people who should know that we were a lock for Hockey East a few years ago. Now we’re more likely to get kicked of out Atlantic Hockey than to get into Hockey East.
