ADMB is having a winter homecoming webinar tomorrow midday. Ask him the question.

That is quite a surprise, and not a good one. Were they getting worn with time and aging? Might they be planning on honoring a few more and running out of room? Are they making room for future tournament and championship banners?

The banners jerseys for Cousy, Foley, Perry, etc., are now on the wall next to the Bud Ryan room.
Take a look at the videos from games broadcast on ESPN+ or CBS Sports.
Hanging from the rafters where the jerseys previously were displayed on the east side are very large championship banners in purple recognizing the NCAA and NIT championships in 1947 and 1954.
Relax fellows! No need to get to jump to conclusions of some vast conspiracies by ADMB. The recognition is still there in the arena, just in a different location next to the Patriot League banners.

The changes are easy to view while watching the games. Once spectators are allowed for games, no one should have difficulty in seeing the banners. Most of us know who has been honored and have seen the banners for the last ten years. I easily saw them on ESPN+, without comments from the broadcast team.
Always amazing how people immediately jump to the worst of conclusions without knowing the facts. Sheesh!

Also noticed from the broadcast is the glass window into the Bud Ryan room from the arena. Has anyone spotted the change?

Also noticed from the broadcast is the glass window into the Bud Ryan room from the arena. Has anyone spotted the change? Are you referring to the glass window on the side opposite the Bud Ryan room? That room, with a glass window, is a large conference room in the AD suite, with naming rights obtained by the class of '62, Foley's class.

Tucked in the corner high up on the wall just as big as the other PL banners for all to see!

The Bud Ryan Room window had the previous logo etched into the glass with a notation for Holy Cross Basketball. The etching occurred about 6 years ago. While viewing the broadcast this season, it appears to have been replaced with a clear panel.

I'm told by a very reliable source that the Hart Center banners recognizing Cousy, Heinsohn, Palazzi, Foley, Kaftan and Perry have been quietly, permanently, and quite unceremoniously removed from the hoop court rafters. I'm also told that much smaller replica jersey "plaques" have been put on the wall near the Bud Ryan room. Who had this bright idea? Doesn't every college basketball fan like to sit in an arena and see recognition of past great teams and players? Easily viewed from every seat in the arena? How many people who come to games and sit at floor level will ever notice something on the wall upstairs, and then make the effort to go up there to see what's there? Doesn't Brett Nelson want to have recruits look up to the rafters and see the names of past HC greats? Interesting that this has occurred just weeks after Tommy Heinsohn's passing, and not too long after we lost kaftan and Foley. What the hell is going on up there? If true this is a total disgrace. A slap in the face to those great athletes and our history. What the hell is happing to Holy Cross....interest in this place is going to continue to decline if they keep this crap up.

If someone can teach me how to pick a lock, I'll break into Hart Saturday and see how they look
I am glad the banners were not removed. I'm going to reserve judgement on the move until I see them in person. I liked the old location. I noticed the big new banners on ESPN+. I don't have enough of a picture in my head to say if the new location does the banners justice

Maybe the jerseys were moved to allow a possible clear view for the new video and score boards that we have been waiting.
Amazing how some always view change and possible upgrades in a negative. It is stagnation and inertia that will cause a decline in interest, not the efforts to refresh and update memorabilia and recognition as being demonstrated.

I noticed the championship banners hanging from the rafters during a recent broadcast and thought it odd that I had never seen them in that spot before. Now I know why. Perhaps MB decided that the team championship is more important than an individual honor. It's a team sport, after all.

Fortunately, each of the individuals recognized were alive and able to attend the ceremony when their efforts were memorialized.
The same tribute to them is still being shown in the arena, just in a new location with updated and higher quality home jerseys being displayed.
I found a picture of the old banners to compare before going down the road of the change being a disgrace, which I do not understand the so-called outrage. Seems to be an improvement with the new banners along with better spacing between each banner for visual recognition.
Can anyone provide a rationale argument of why the change in locations is seen as a negative? I understand why in large arenas such a TD North, Madison Square, etc. the need to hang from rafters as wall space is not available due to seating configuration. The banners have not always hung from the steel support beams for the roof.

Picture of Togo, with the previous banners located on the east wall instead of the west wall. Really not sure what the brouhaha is about. Here is proof, that the tributes were displayed on the east wall, not the ceiling above the court. Besides, the new banners seem to be of higher quality than the previous. Also to be noted, the previous banners displayed the old logo. That is probably the reason for the refresh, along with the change to the Bud Ryan window.

The 100th anniversary celebration of the 1947 NCAA championship is only 26 years away. That's the only rub when viewing the banners on ESPN+. Time to start a new winning tradition. BTW, is anything planned for the 75th while the Cooz is still with us?

Might be a depth perception thing, because I still think they were hanging from the ceiling and this photo doesn't change my recollection. In this photo, you can see the black bar they were hanging from. That wouldn't be needed if they were mounted to the wall. Note this is an older picture because looking at that wall and the bleachers, this is clearly before the Luth upgrade. Maybe they got moved to the wall and I forgot As I said, Jen Toland's pictures aren't going to tell the story. I'm going to need to see them in person. I have no idea if they're about the same size as they were or if they're 12" tall and can only be identified if you're standing in front of them

I expect that the logo was a big part of whatever changes have been made. This picture is certainly before the renovation/expansion - when we for-whatever-reason decided to add the Comm. of MA inlay to the floor, and installed purple seating, etc.

Tom:
The new banners for Pallazi, Heinsohn, Foley, etc, are in length, longer than the banners representing the Patriot League teams on the wall. They are not 12”. They are substantially longer and easy to see wherever you are in the arena.
To get a perspective, and to actually see them, go to the archive of last weekend’s women’s game against Army on the ESPN+ app. As soon as the first half concludes, approximately 43:48 into the replay, there is a camera shot from the east side of the arena, near Section G that shows the west side and north for the new banners for Togo, Tommy and Jack. The view last for about .5 seconds. So look quick or freeze the frame.
Still do not understand why the brouhaha. Just an arena refresh of signage. The old banners have been up for 10 years. The reaction by some was if an artifact had been removed from a sacred ancient burial site.
The new positioning will allow for video boards on the east side wall, once funding has been allocated. Hope we have it next season.
