Gates is a tough physical guy but he takes a beating underneath and is often double or triple teamed. I think of Matt Fax as more of a power forward than center. We need more size underneath. We need more large bodies (Rabinovich, Louth) to take up space and bang underneath. IIRC Charlie Brown filled this role; not a great athlete but knew what his role was.

Ho hum my booster buddies. I am not going to quote Ignatius on tolerance. I wanted to after being vilified on this board for sharing my opinion on this coach. My friends it’s time to move on from this debacle. We have a new President. Does he have any interest in Holy Cross athletics? I don’t know however if he plans to succeed in his ability to raise funds I would suggest he should. What better place to begin than our beloved Holy Cross basketball.
Let me make a proposal here. The AD should be challenged with a new campaign. Let’s say “Restore the Heritage” or “Make the Legend Live” . A national recruitment effort to remake Holy Cross basketball according to its tradition of winning.
Now the parallel process is to recruit one or two alumni who will lend more than a their names to this restoration. I would suggest it start with Bill Simmons. If he could be convinced to spearhead this undertaking we would be well on our way. I would also recruit Dr Fauci the former high school baller from Brooklyn to add his luster. More could be added. Analyze the problem. Determine root causes and offer solutions then act on them in a positive manner. Let’s restore the honor and tradition of Holy Cross basketball.

No issues with the video, the audio, the chyron graphics, etc.
The window onto the court from the conference room at the east end looked to be boarded over, or perhaps a curtain.
No comments on the NCAA 47 and NIT 54 banners?
ADMB was in the stands, as were a few others.

Ronnie Perry is nearing retirement age. (Yikes). Maybe he'd be interested in leading the restoration.

But I will wait till I see them in person

You will never restore the basketball program as long as you are in the Patriot League.

It also looks like the individual banners marking NCAA and NIT appearances are gone and there is a smaller number of banners with a bunch of years listed on them. Not sure if there is any notation on the new banners of the fact that 1948 was a Final Four year

Does anyone know the correct pronunciation of Mike Rabs's name? I had thought it was Ra-BIN-ovich, but the announcers were going with Rabi-NO-vich. I sincerely hope our own announcers would know.

When the announcers ( John Avino and Kevin Wells) were doing the pregame, the new 1947 NCAA banner is above them and to the right. Take a look at the first 30 seconds of the replay from yesterday’s game.

Good SID's always provide announcers/PA guys with a phonetic pronunciation list of the entire rosters of both squads. No idea if Charlie does this, but he should especially given the revolving door of announcers.

You will never restore the basketball program as long as you are in the Patriot League. After 30 years of PL membership, I have no hopes HC will find itself in a league that is consistently ranked in the 8-15 range of conferences. The Administration and I assume the Board of Trustees, is content with being in the PL. It is what it is. Many loyal supporters have chosen to move on and obviously the casual fan is long gone. Also, college hoops has changed greatly in the last 40 years so when people say “restore the basketball program” my take on things is Holy Cross basketball by default, came to a crossroads 40 years ago and the college took the road less traveled. The circumstances of 40 years where HC could kind of be a big-time program, no longer exist, at least in our neighborhood.

I'd think your way is right (I've known guys with very similar last names). Sort of like QB Todd Marinovich.

RGS, 50% from 3 point range is like asking HC to win the Patriot League at this point. Unfair, impossible, not likely, and all other sorts of descriptions. The common "top flight" tier of 3pt shooters will be at or just above 40%. To ask a team to do that is probably a tall order, but 50% wouldn't be West Virginia on the 2000s on their best day.

I reviewed page 5 of the 2020-2021 Fact Book for HC Basketball. The Pronunciation Guide is listed on the bottom of the page. The guide list the correct pronunciation for 4 players. Unfortunately the correct pronunciation for Mike R is not included by C. If you get too good as a low major, teams don't want to play you.

There used to be an individual banner for each appearance hanging from the ceiling. Mens over the benches and scorers' table - women over the press table. They appear to be replaced with a smaller number of banners with several years listed on them. Up on the east wall. Basically opposite the new home of the numbers of honored players

I follow, but HC did hit 50% from 3 for the first half. It does depend on how many long range shots are taken. 15 of 30 probably not going to happen. 2 of 4 or 3 of 6 could be in reach. That bar is a a bit high. How does 40% or better sound?

I like the new big championship banners. I have seen old Hart Center pictures of the 1947 and 1954 Championship teams on the wall.
The only banner missing is the Final Four in 1948

Maybe they are expecting a run of NCAA appearances and were afraid of running out of room for individual banners. I liked the individual banners for what it's worth.

Yes. The individual banners for each appearance hanging from the ceiling were replaced. The old banners had the old logo. The recognition banners were refreshed and looks more professional similar to the “Garden” recognition. What was deceiving in the video introduction to yesterday’s game, the first several seconds of the game showed a quick view of the arena ceiling with the old banners that have been replaced. Not sure why they have spliced an old segment from last year for this year’s introduction. Also they should use a scene of the campus, namely in front of the Luth with the Cousy Statue, instead of a non descriptive building in down town Worcester with no connection to HC basketball. If they were to show a building in downtown, it should be the “AUD”.
