Butler is 9th in scoring and 2nd in rebounding. Gates is 7th in scoring and 4th in rebounding.
Hope both get at least second team honors.

I don’t think we’ve had a first team guy since Dave D. Is that right?

Aldama is a 1st-teamer, I would think Yes, think you’re right. Swap Richardson or Grayson out for him.

Butler and Gates may split votes so that neither makes a team Butler has been terrific, but we would not have been competitive in many of the first 14 games without Gerrale.

More often than not these awards are based on the total contribution. For most coaches I would think if you stop Butler, you stop Holy Cross. Like Jaworski he is the heart and soul of the team. As good as Gates has been he has another year, but then again I don't get a vote🏀

RJ is a strong contender for RoY - Army's Jalen Rucker may be his most serious competition.

It's a tough year to pick these teams due to discrepancy in games played. What do you do with Meeks from Bucknell he's only played 4 games so far averaging 25 points and 6 rebounds, team is 4-0 when he plays 0-4 when he doesn't. American's Johnny O'Neil is having a good rookie year averaging 11 points and 7 rebounds in 6 games.

I think Meeks might have been a POY candidate, but having missed four games with a concussion and then having missed a month due to Covid shutdowns, I don’t think he enters into that conversation. As for ROY, I would guess RJ might be the top contender. He has the advantage of having played more minutes than any of the other freshman candidates. Bucknell’s center Andre Screen, has been very good - 13th in the nation in defensive rebound rate, 70th in blocks, and hitting almost 60% from the field. But he will end the regular season with only 10 games and splits time 50/50 with Paul Newman. Colgate’s Jeff Woodward also has had a good year, but he only plays 40% of the minutes.

Aldama is a 1st-teamer, I would think No doubt. As the only 3x PL player of the week and the league’s #1 rebounder (by a wide margin), # 1 tie (w/Faw) shotblocker, and #2 scorer he may get some POY votes.

We would definitely not have had the success we’ve had without RJ. I feel great about him running the show for the next three years and hope Nelson has a great plan for using both him and Luc.

Aldama is ranked #63 on The Athletic’s NBA Draft Board What's the chances Aldama transfers after this season? As i understand it ,he would have 3 years left.

Aldama is ranked #63 on The Athletic’s NBA Draft Board What's the chances Aldama transfers after this season? As i understand it ,he would have 3 years left. It's always possible, but because he has such close ties to assistant coach Ivo Simovic, I doubt it. Simovic coached a decade in Spain and is friends with Aldama's father. The other possibility, although probably remote, would be for him to opt to play pro basketball in Spain.

Does playing in the only 4 team mini-conference help Austin and Gates? Since the others are 3 teams..

A very difficult to choose an all star team when most coaches do not see most of the candidates.

Harris is close to top 10 nationally in 3-point percentage (45 percent) on decent volume, considering AU only played nine regular season games–and is sixth in the PL in assists (3.6). Certainly can argue for Jaworski for first team, though. I don't think Grayson or Richardson warrant first team; both should definitely be second team IMO. As for ROTY, Johnson and Rucker both should get strong consideration. I would humbly point out that AU's Johnny O'Neil is averaging more points (10.6), rebounds (6.3) and blocks (1.7, third in the PL) than either of them, while shooting 40+ percent on threes. It is fair to note that he only played in seven games, significantly fewer than Johnson or Rucker, and that that should certainly be considered when deciding.

Given the sometimes large discrepancy in games played it's almost meaningless to pick theses teams this year. While Meeks numbers certainly put him on the first team, he's only played four of Bucknell's ten games. Going by the old adage that the most important ability is availability he'd be disqualified.
