Was reading an article on hoops phenom Azzi Fudd and learned that her father, Tim, was a pretty good player at American. Averaged 16 ppg as a senior. Was before they were in the PL so I don’t remember him but thought some might be interested. Azzi is the top player in the current senior class and headed to UConn to join close friend Paige Bueckers. They will likely win multiple national titles together.

South Carolina signed the numbers 2, 3 and 4 high school players True - for those who choose to go by the ESPN rankings and ignore the others. In the ESPN rankings, UConn got #1, #5, #15, and #30. However most girls rankings have UConn's class rated higher - often much higher. And UConn is 1st in the composite rankings. Prospects Nation: UConn: #'s 1, 3 , 6, and 11. South Carolina: #'s 2, 8, 13, and 55. Prep Girls Hoops: UConn: 1, 4, 9, 15. South Carolina: 3, 8, 20, 40. A composite ranking: UConn: 1. 6. 10. 17. South Carolina: 3. 8. 15. 25. (Based on about six credible recruiting sites) Btw, I don't know if it was mentioned that Fudd's mom is Katie Smyrcka-Duffy, who led the Big East in scoring a couple of times while playing for Georgetown. Also was ACC ROY at NC State before transferring and is considered to be one of the top HS players ever to play in the DMV area.

Tim was a very good player- first team all-CAA in '94, 19th all-time in school history in rebounding, 22nd all-time in scoring at AU with more than 1,300 points. Played in Europe for several years and then coached locally in the D.C. area at different schools. Indeed married to Katie Smrcka-Duffy (not Smyrcka-Duffy), who was an outstanding player. Given her parents' pedigree, it's not a surprise that Azzi, who was named after the all-time great player Jennifer Azzi, is a budding superstar.
