Per ADMB.
Wouldn't be playing more than 1-2 night games a year, and can use Polar Park. Said PL opponents don't want to play night games in Worcester because of travel time back to their home campus.

Let’s put lights up at the football field stop with using polor park people rather watch night games at fitton field why put new scoreboard when you won’t have night games won’t be abable to see it that good in the day time

From watching this year’s commencement occurring at the brightest point in the day, there was not an issue with the clarity of the picture for the new scoreboard.
Until there is a major makeover to Fitton, that will allow sideline space for Lacrosse, the installation of permanent lights would be a waste of money. Temporary lights in the Football Field, for the games in the past against UMass and Monmouth seem to provide sufficient lighting for play.
As noted, even with permanent lights, HC would still play only one night game a year, during the month of September.

Permanent lights are clearly very low on ADMB list of facility priorities.

This should be enough to say see you to the PL. Goes to show you what they think about football games. They don’t care about the fans they care about a 5 hour bus ride at the most.

Screw the PL teams. We control when we start our games. Bucknell had no problem keeping fans and parents out of their stadium. MB needs to start worrying about his and our school and not other PL teams.

Okay MB play Merrimack at night. Play Harvard at night. Play Yale at night. Not too far to drive for those teams. I am so tired of treating these BS Patriot League teams like they are something special.

We play when we want sorry we care about football and want to grow our fan base while the rest of the league is ready to drop the sport!

From his standpoint, he wants to see how much Worcester fan support there is for games at Polar Park, and for hoops games at the Hart. He said if they played the Icebreaker games at the DCU, he thought attendance would be several thousand. He also said he wants road games for football to be a more memorable experience for the players. This specifically included spending more time in a city, gaining more from a visit than just playing the game there. He seems to be keen on giving the players experiences they will remember, not just the football game. While he did not say this, one could interpret the idea of memorable location to be a criterion when scheduling OOC opponents.

Were the ADMB remarks part of a Zoom event or something else?

Were the ADMB remarks part of a Zoom event or something else? This was a Zoom event. Supposedly arranged as part of reunion weekend. Far fewer actually joined the Zoom than had registered, and he joked about getting in touch with the no shows. _________________ He said that he wants to see more students attending games. They will run buses to Polar Park, and buses back, but he expects that many students will stay in Worcester after the game.

Sorry, but in general, games at Polar Park exude "minor league" status for the football program....games there once in a while maybe but let's not make this a regular happening.

I like the way ADMB communicates with Holy Cross stakeholders. His explanations are understandable and there is always a logic to his decisions. He doesn't promote himself and take constant credit for working on things like the video board, he just gets it done and then you hear about it. It's positive for HC to utilize both City owned facilities Polar Park and the DCU Center. The Woo Sox are a marketing powerhouse, it's nice to be on the same team with them. Their playing schedule doesn't conflict with our fall and winter spectator revenue sports. So far we have a positive partnership with no downside. The connection in the public's mind is a small entre towards Holy Cross becoming Worcester's team again. I give MB credit for being the point person, right behind Bob Cousy being Larry Lucchino's idol since he attended Cooz's basketball camp as a kid. I like the synergy of the savings from not having to rent lights for Fitton offsetting the cost of renting Polar. I am sure the Woo Sox will make good money from the game but remember, Holy Cross doesn't have to pay a penny of the $150 million it cost to build the ballpark.

Hear ya'...but point being, games at Polar Park while maybe fun, a change of pace etc....give off "minor league" vibes i.e. not really D1 football. We have a history of playing football in Yankee Stadium, Fenway etc....let's not make Polar Park games a regular thing.

Otherwise Fitton would get cobwebs from underuse. It is a much better place to watch football.

First off a Saturday night game at 6pm after all other day games have been played and all of your Saturday chores are done being the only game at that time would be quite the experience. The U Mass game at night was a great take a few years ago. As for MB wanting to give the players a memorable experience during road games, please when I played you traveled to the game the day before got up and played the next day. No site seeing just football. I’m personally NOT interested in memorable game locations but memorable opponents who will pay us lots of money to show up and play.

ADMB wasn't doing a spontaneous riff during this Zoom call. This is something that was discussed with Chesney., and likely something already discussed with the chair of the athletics committee of the BoT. When he talked about a fourfold increase in the number of scollies for men's lacrosse, that wasn't a spur of the moment musing. ADMB is not crawling out on a branch only to find someone behind him with a saw in hand. It also goes to who HC might try to schedule for OOC opponents. While he was sketching this, my first thought was an opponent on the West Coast

Because the football program is currently playing at a minor league college level. Sorry, but Holy Cross football does not warrant a game at Fenway Park because they were big time 70 years ago. Maybe you should try to embrace the city where the college resides and enjoy a football game in the heart of downtown.
