We're not even among the five Maids in Waiting. We'll have to be ranked if we beat UConn.

Of course rhey haven't played in 2 years so who knows, maybe Edsall worked some magic in recruiting, both at HS and JUCO level. But any FBS "scalp" is a feather in the cap both as far as getting noticed in polls and for at-large playoff comsideration.

Although we may not know much about this year's UConn team, Massey did make then a favorite over HC by 18 points...saying HC will have their lowest offensive output of the year. An HC win here would be quite a statement.
The Huskies are 7 point underdogs at Fresno State. Massey has UConn rated at #166 in the FBS (with 130 rated teams). Perhaps they are rated too highly in the FBS, but this early, who knows. (BTW UMass is rated at #128). In a matchup of Monmouth and UConn, Massey would make UConn a 14 point favorite. The two lowest FBS ratings from Massey were for Bowling Green and UTEP.

Flip a coin as to who is the worst 1A in the country: Conn or Mass.
Beating Monmouth would be a bigger "statement" than beating Conn.

Obviously, the experts believe the HC offense will be overwhelmed by a bigger, stronger more athletic UConn "D." They may be in for a big surprise. The offense-defense differential could very well work out the other way. Also, in most years, offenses start slowly. It can take time for the offense to catchup with the defense. Who knows? Expect an HC win on our way to a perfect season.

I suspect you might mean perfect regular season unless you are expecting us to be national champion. Not even the most optimistic Crusader fan expects that.

Chesney has moved HC football t a winning culture, Now, as to your favorite basketball coach, BN ... Optimism is running at neutral for BB, but success on the gridiron can't help but instill confidence in other sports, or at least remove the excuse that you can't win at HC.
