The big tent in the Hoval will need to be taken down. Being used today as the dining area for several food trucks.
Current track and timing has it near New London on Sunday at 8AM, and West Boylston at 8 AM on Monday. Lots of rain, flooding rain, because of the slow movement. College may be counting its blessings that there is not a rug on Fitton Field.

Closer to downtown Worcester, but cars were abandoned on Southbridge St Thursday with local flooding (about 2 feet of water in the street). I'm guessing close to the Miss Worcester Diner, but that's not far from the school

The crane lifted port-a-johns off the roof. So no puns for merde hitting the fan and everywhere. Sorry.
They may be back tomorrow with respect to anchoring the scaffolding on the rood, or removing it. The scaffolding acts as the base for a cover over a work area. The cover looks to have been taken down.

Hope everyone here stays safe Sunday and Monday. Forecast seems to be getting worse rather than better for those of us in Southern New England.

Henri headed west toward Fairfield and Fordham.
As an aside i will note the marked difference in weather warnings issued at the Federal level in the United States, and regional and local weather warnings in Germany, which experienced catastrophic and deadly floods several weeks ago. Standard nomenclature and centrally issued warnings in the United States, the opposite in Germany. Conversely, the Federal government in Germany has greater powers with respect to imposing COVID-related restrictions and mandates than does the Federal government in the United States, where nearly all mandates are state or locally established and enforced (or not).

Got water in my basement from Thursday's deluge, first time in 25 years (we've been there 26, the first year there was a problem and it was fixed; the current leak is elsewhere and hopefully, a one-off). Glad that the pattern for my area doesn't call for excessive rain.

Glad I replaced my sump pump in January and hoping my generator starts when I test it today. It's looking like a direct hit from Henri. Thinking of my grade school teachers. As I progressed through the grades each woman teacher would bring up stories of the Hurricane of 1938 whenever a storm was predicted and now I do that about the Blizzard of '78 whenever a Nor'easter is predicted.

As I post this, the tent is still up and no evidence they are even starting to dismantle it. Not sure how much wind it is designed to withstand, so we'll see if they take it down later tonight or just leave it up. Worcester not likely to get the winds we'll get on LI, CT or RI but still it'll be more than the usual breezy day (apologies to breezy).

My favorite "breezy day" if when HC sees how many verbal commits sign LOIs.

First raindrops on Mt. St. James. Storm has shifted back east, but appears it will track west of Worcester. Yesterday, they had filled large buckets of water and placed two by each pole, to hold the pole base down. Those aren't there this morning. The tropical storm warning for Mt. St. James was issued this morning. The winds are already quite gusty.

Watching the webcams (is that OK with you, ACTP? ), the counterclockwise winds/rain - east to west, shows bands of rain coming down heavier than here in RI though we had heavier rain earlier. Until this fully hits, I expect and on again, off again storm. Dad was up at HC during the 1938 hurricane and he talked about the large trees coming down on campus. This won't be like that.

Rain and some wind in the Hartford area but just getting started. The shift to the East means a little less wind. Projected to be a tropical storm rather than a hurricane by the time it gets here but lots of flooding and power outage concerns. Hope everyone stays safe.

NJ has just had some rain (light) but we, for once, are on the far Western edge of all of this.

I wonder if the Utilities have brought in any crews from Quebec. You know, sending Henri to fight Henri? 🤣

The remaining center of Henri is currently overhead in central Connecticut.
I just briefly sat on the porch. Once inside, I told my wife, I have sat in worst conditions at Fitton for a football game. 😊
We have lost Xfinity, but fortunately still have power.

Imagine nowadays with all the buildup along the coast(s), etc. and not knowing something like the one in '38 was coming; which was more or less the case. My dad was at football practice. Can't remember whether or not they stopped or kept going.
