Actually think UCONN has potential and had a bad match up for the first game Battled agains heat and speed Not sure we offer those conditions next week in NE Unless of course are QB can make plays and attack the huskies on the perimeter in the air so our WRs can do damage You're joking right? Not at all They aren't göod, and on the edge of not good, but that is for a 1A team. Next week they play us as a 1AA 🏈 The comments about how they stink do not compute. we should have a great match if we move the ball through the air, if it is a ground game on our part I am not hopeful. Our offensive assets are our WR-not to get them the ball might make for a longer day than we hoped for look I could be way off but it is my view after watching today

I don’t think that’s true. Lots of qualified assistants would have jumped at the chance to ink a multi year deal that’s mid six figures annually. Randy Edsall’s current salary: $1,606,000. I knew he was at seven figures but didn’t realize he was that high. UConn clearly could have gotten a better guy than him.

I saw a team that was sleep-walking out there. For having not played a game in about 2 years, I expected much more emotion and excitement from UConn. I know it was hot, but both teams played in the same conditions. I expect HC to be well prepare and very motivated to take the field next week. If we can win the turnover battle and play error-free football, I can see it being close well into the second half. At that point, Ng could be the difference-maker.

Edsall is 6-31 in his second stint at UConn. Three of those wins have come against HC, Wagner, and Rhode Island. All three of those games, mind you, were one score games.
What a disaster.

The thing that gives me some confidence about getting a W is that we’re a lot better than we were last time we met. I think UConn is worse.

Don’t disagree, but I don’t think they are as bad as many suggest in terms of an opponent. We haven’t stopped teams that can throw the ball and still search for ways to consistently move the ball through the air. ‘’it should be an exciting contest

UConn tackling was Keystone Kops woeful. Fresno QB and receivers were high quality, however. HC has a definite shot at a W.

There wasn't another coach in the country who wanted the job. That's why. I don’t think that’s true. Lots of qualified assistants would have jumped at the chance to ink a multi year deal that’s mid six figures annually. Steven Clinksale, the Defensive Backs coach at Kentucky, was the 170th ranked assistant coach in terms of pay last year at $500,000. sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/salaries/football/assistantA guy like him would be foolish to leave that gig for the dead end UCONN job.

A guy making $500K would be “foolish” to take a job where the current guy gets $8M over 5 years? Worst case scenario, you get $8M and then go back to making $500K for a better team.

A million per win is a good rate of pay for Edsall.

The remnants of Hurricane Ida are projected to be over West Virginia Wednesday at 8pm. The projection stops there on the maps currently but the track points the remnants towards Connecticut. If anything it might be windy and rainy at the game on Saturday.

I thought Peter was an excellent matchup v UConn in their first game that year and Cozier had legit speed/quickness. Folks forget we played very well our first three games that year. And pretty well in the 4th. If we had a Pujols and a Cozier this year I’d be more confident v UConn.

After roasting in the Fresno oven yesterday, the UCONN players and coaches will probably be shivering next weekend.

The Courant had multiple sports writers reporting or commenting on the game, but because they had bylines but no datelines that said -Fresno, CA. at least in the online edition, I suspect they watched the game on CBSSN just like us. If so, it doesn't represent a decline in interest in UConn sports as much as it does a financial decline in the newspaper industry.
I think Storrs is within the radius of travel the T&G will pay for a reporter to cover a game live, which adds one more plus to this game in addition to the check and the opportunity to snare an FBS pelt. Kudos to whoever scheduled it, which I assume was NP and TG.

After what Fresno did to them, they may be looking forward only to the end of the season, certainly not any Big Ten team.
