Interesting. It seems to provide a good deal of information, but it can't quantify coaching ability or individual/team desire. I appreciate the information.

No mention of Janelle Allen, think she was enough of a contributor to have made note of.

The women are playing Pitt and the men are playing Regis? What a difference a new millennium makes.

Tough start for Army and Colgate AWP postponed their home game vs Immaculata due to health (covid) concerns Colgate was enroute to Cornell when they turned around because: "This evening, Cornell University issued an alert indicating that local law enforcement was continuing a search for a gunman traveling on foot north of the Ithaca campus. A shelter in place order was issued for individuals within a one-mile radius of the last known location of the gunman, including some buildings on the Cornell campus"

Ohio St pulled away from Bucknell in the 2nd half and won 71-48 Colgate is rebuilding and lost at Cornell 53-34 OSU, which is ranked #17 in the coaches' poll, upped their margin from 13 points to 23 points over the last 11 minutes. Too many turnovers vs a very long and athletic team and seemed to run out of gas.. Also had problems when Taylor O'Brien got in foul trouble. O'Brien ended up with 17 points on 13 shots. Having graduated four starters, this is an inexperienced Bison team that hopefully will get better as the season goes on. Two frosh played 22+ minutes today, and another played 11 minutes...

The women are playing Pitt and the men are playing Regis? What a difference a new millennium makes. There's probably better D2 and D3 teams than what we put on the floor tonight. Hope that's an aberration, but I'm not so sure.

Hope that's an aberration, but I'm not so sure. Amherst and Bowdoin in recent years were better than HC. Amherst for an example this year has at least six players over six feet tall.

I don't think the team with the tallest players automatically wins. Otherwise, they'd just measure each player and award the win to the taller team. That said, last night was a very poor showing all around. Poor passing, poor shooting including at the free throw line, poor defense, not such great rebounding. Just very disorganized like they hadn't had any practices. Hopefully they'll get better or they might challenge for Nelson-like results.

Both Bowdoin and Amherst were final four level teams...Bowdoin's coach is now at Dartmouth and they were throttled by URI on Tuesday

I guess their players weren't tall enough. Perhaps they can consult with Holy Cross to install an "elongator?"

What's particularly disturbing is the only significant loss from last year is McCormack (who's coming back).

Agree totally. Not putting Northeastern down at all but we literally looked like we hadn't practiced at all. I won't name names but some of our best players didn't play well with lazy passes that resulted in an inordinate number of turnovers. Players were missing bunnies and free throws looked like they were throwing up rocks.
Even the announcers were trying top chalk it up to "first game rust." So, maybe things will get better.

Re the announcers yesterday, I recognized the voice of "Josh" yesterday, as the very professional sounding announcer of HC soccer. Thought he also did a terrific job for hoops. I hope he gets a larger role doing all of our games

"Practice?" The whole team including Freshman were on campus practicing every day for seven weeks in the summer. [br

lol Seriously, watching the women made me wonder what they had been doing in practice. They seemed to be at loose ends and that is putting kindly. At the end of the half, when HC cut the difference from 13 down to 8, I looked forward to seeing what the second half would bring. That didn't last long, since we looked as bad at the start of the second half as we did at the start of the game. There are some good athletes on this team. I hope they jell sooner rather than later. Let's see what the coaches have in their tanks.

I think too if the freshmen (and Davis, who is really a newcomer as well) were getting a lot of minutes last night, I'd say "well, Coach Magarity thinks these guys have outplayed some of the veterans, hopefully that will bear dividends one way or the other, even though in this game it didn't". But, really, with the exception of Munt, they didn't play that much.

American with a big win tonight at Virginia, 69-56. First road win vs. a Power 5 school since 1998. Jade Edwards one point shy of a triple-double (9 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists). UVA is terrible this year, I know (the Hoos were picked to finish last in the ACC this season in the preseason poll), but they're still an ACC school. Huge accomplishment for us.
