Short week need to get moving on game plan. Clearly lots of work to do with offense. Looking forward to a fun week.

I plan on making the trip from central NJ. Game day forecast looks fairly good for early December. Go Cross Go!

Why is this a Friday night game in December in the northeast rather than a Saturday afternoon tilt ? My guess is that it is because Villanova hoops has a Saturday noon home game vs St. Joe’s. And the hoops team would not be asked to change the time/day of their game.

Seriously - a short week during the playoffs? That’s crap. If they can’t play the game on Saturday because of basketball and can’t give us a full week to prep (compared to their two week prep during which they no doubt studied both SHU and HC) the game should be moved to a local, neutral site near ‘Nova on Saturday or played on Saturday at HC.
Why should we be at a disadvantage because of an opponent’s basketball team’s schedule? That would be unacceptable if that’s the reason.

Because we are a lower ranked team. That’s the benefit of being a top ranked team that position has its benefits.

Would the (much ?) colder temperatures on Friday night compared to Saturday at noon be more favorable to the home team ?

And the hoops team would not be asked to change the time/day of their game. Congrats on the win! It wasn't pretty but it counts! HC and I think Chesney needed this win to help take another step. A loss, especially to a NEC team (not to be a hater), would have been a bit of a step back on the national stage. Also, another blow to the PL. As it is, now the Crusaders get their shot at a Villanova program who has dominated the PL since 1986! Having this game on Friday night is absurd. Especially when you consider the "Northeast I-95 factor" this time year on a Friday evening! This game should be a Nooner on Saturday regardless of what 'Nova says. Granted, we all know there's some political BS involved here and the Villanova name carries weight. I have to believe ESPN would love to have them (their name) around for one their ESPN/ESPN2 games in December. I honestly might attend this game. As of now (famous last words) the forecast suggests it's going to be nice (sunny, mid 50s) on Friday in Southeast PA. With that in mind, I could go for another round of golf since our season has basically ended in the Northern PA mountains. I'm about 20 minutes north of Scranton so it's a straight shot down 476 for me to get to warmer weather/Philly Metro area. As a Temple and DePaul alum I have no trouble rooting against the Main Liners!

Get the program to the level Duff had when we smoked them in ‘87 on ESPN. Once that happens, we won’t care when or where we’re playing.

The Villanova game is not the only FCS playoff game scheduled for Friday night. The @ Montana game is scheduled for Friday night as well. And the Montana men's basketball team is playing away.

OK, here is an early line (thanks to Massey). Villanova is a 10 point favorite (21-31) over Holy Cross and they have an 82% chance for the victory.

Usually the low temp listed occurs during dawn of that morning. Should be in the 40s from 7-10 PM which is perfect for the first week in December! I wonder how many 'Nova fans will show up? I've been bullish on the Wildcats all season. I had a chance to talk to 'Nova play-by-play (football/bball) guy Ryan Fannon (thanks to a loyal HC family) late summer and he believed the football team was set up for a big season, ready to challenge JMU. They played tough against Penn State then went down to Harrisonburg and beat JMU. Smith is a very good, typical (smart, good passer/runner, tough,) 'Nova QB and their defense is excellent. This is a huge challenge for HC and Chesney to come up with a plan to shorten the game and grind out enough points to win.

On another note we don’t want to play St Joes if we play without major adjustments- hate to think what might take place watched their strength and quickness against Gtown yesterday we need to play that game at 25 mph and not 100 if we want to compete

Could it be on a Friday night because it will be on one of the ESPN national channels--ESPNU or ESPN2?
Will be interesting to see what the attendance is. Back in 2009 on a cloudy, cold day, I believe it was about 4,300. Much of the crowd sat on the visitor's side where there was sunlight.

I was there and while there were some Villanova fans sitting there, the vast majority were Crusader fans. We had a very solid contingent.
Because I happen to be a wee bit superstitious, I will watch the game on ESPN+ (the official brackets show 2nd round games on ESPN+). Having been there in 2009 and while we played them close, we still lost to eventual national champs. I think the Purple will do better without my in-person help.

This is our chance to upset the CAA champ. Nova’s finally healthy after five years of wacky injuries, loaded with talent, unimpressed with our SHU squeaker, and thinking only of another FCS championship.
Trap game!!
I said it.

The Nova QB is very good. Remained composed even at Penn State. I like our pressure and our DB's. We will see how we do against their running game. We were lost on some of those early runs and RPO's to the outside. I wouldnt be surprised if Nova tries to run on us more than they are used to. Call me crazy but I like this matchup! We were bigger and better than SHU on paper but look how that turned out. Go Cross!

So we go from facing the #1 pass defense in FCS, statistically speaking, to #6 nationally in FCS. Going to be another massive challenge for the Holy Cross offense.

The HC-Villanova winner plays either Sacramento State or the Jacks. Any chance of that game being on the East Coast? Is it still a bidding situation for hosting the game? It would appear SDSU has higher average attendance and Sac State has better weather, but I would imagine the East Coast teams would bid if they are eligible to.
Does a second round home game automatically go to Villanova with the bye, and if so how is their fee to the NCAA calculated?

I think a seed would automatically host a non-seed in the quarters. So its my understanding VU would host SDSU.
Since Sac St is seeded higher than Villanova, I believe the Wildcats would go out there.
