Errant passes, bad shot selection, not boxing out — all signs of a lack of attention to detail and, quite frankly, just not caring.
This is really bad.

They shot 68% 2PT FG.
We shot 40% 2PT FG.
Whatever offense Nelson is trying to run doesn’t foster good shots. Meanwhile, defense is optional at the other end of the floor.
Brett Nelson is a poor man’s Milan Brown.

Wow, what a ticky tack T! HC only down 63-60 after his dunk 7:20 remaining

Need leadership by someone before this completely implodes , they lose the team, and we are looking for players

It would seem the team is getting worse, not better.
We’ve won 2 games. Starting to wonder if we can beat the 3 win season from 2 years ago. Beating 5 wins from last season looks out of reach.

The team is 2-7 which is bad enough, but that is their record. It could be hard watching what Fairfield does against us, helped by a former Crusader who was one of the first to abandon ship.

I'm going out on a limb and predicting an HC victory today. FB didn't win last night but that only took a small edge off the euphoria, there's enough left to carry over for an HC BB win. Glad I predicted but didn't wager. Why do we fade so much as the game progresses? Can't our coaches see weaknesses in real time that can be exploited? That's part of in-game coaching.

The only problem is this "old history soaked gym" was built in 1998. It's a disgrace. 1998 wow. Palestra was better

La Salle wanted its own, on-campus arena as well they should have. I forget the whole story, but insufficient money and insufficient space led to a series of compromises that resulted in the building you saw today.

Brown's winning % was 45.4% for his 5 seasons at HC.
Nelson's is 8-47 or 14.5% vs DIV I Competition.
I guess you could say, just going by the numbers, that Milan Brown was over 3X better than Nelson.

I agree with this last post. Nelson isn’t in the ballpark with Brown. This program - not just team - is a dumpster fire.
I want them to be good just like we all do. But there is no evidence they are good, improving, on the rise, etc to provide hope.
Start over once again.

I forget the whole story, but insufficient money and insufficient space led to a series of compromises that resulted in the building you saw today. Now, now. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. How do you think the Hart rates with people without purple in their veins? We committed our basketball future to that glorified high school gym while we were still a factor in college basketball back in the '70s for any one who remembers the likes of Chris Potter, Michael Vicens, and Billy Doran. I wish the current team all the best, but the thinking behind committing to an abomination like the Hart was the first step down the tubes for HC basketball. Placing a statue of the Cooz out front doesn't change that. Only emphasizes how far we've fallen. I continue to hope that we've reached the bottom, but each game this year shows that we haven't, unfortunately. It was a mistake for Gilmore to be retained as head football coach long after his "sell by" date. We've had three poor basketball coach selections in a row now. Unfortunately, I believe Nelson is the fourth. We desperately need a hardwood Chesney to have any hope of reviving the basketball program. These thoughts are no knock on the current roster. I'm sure they're doing the best they can under the circumstances and we all desperately want them to win. But, for whatever reason (youth among them), it ain't happening yet. I'd like to believe that better days lie ahead, but I'm from Missouri at this point: SHOW ME, DAMMN IT!

We're the underdog but I have not given up on the team despite our sub-optimal performance to date. I think we can win and, rather than bore you with my usual protracted analysis, I'll list these as the necessary developments: RJ returns to form Gates shoots 45%+ on twos 2 out of 3 of our scorers (Martindale, Gates, Luc) must have one of their better games--essentially "shots must fall" for two of them at least 10 or fewer turnovers 1 out of 4.

What a disparity in A-10 gyms, ie: The Mullins Center at UMass vs Tom Gola Arena at LaSalle. However, I don't appreciate leagues like Hockey East that try to dictate arena size and location. The costs are too high today and the higher education industry is too fragile for that. These old history soaked gyms have a certain charm and a school's decision on how to spend it's money should be respected. The only problem is this "old history soaked gym" was built in 1998. It's a disgrace. Looks like they took the equivalent of HC's late not-so-great fieldhouse and made basketball arena out of it. Or UConn's old place. Has "quonset hut" written all over it.

First 6 minutes, 3-12. Last 7 minutes, 5-24.
Rest of the game 57-48.

It did provide a very good home-court advantage from '75-'80 or so but it was an insufficient arena for a program that was mostly Top 25- 50 in the nation at the time. Willard spun some magic in the early 2000s but the hoop program has basically been in disarray (in terms of being competitive/nationally viable) for most of the last 40 years. As long as we are in the PL (and we will continue to be for some time, I'm nearly certain), this really won't change much regardless of who our hoop coach is.

I'd like to believe that better days lie ahead, but I'm from Missouri at this point: SHOW ME, DAMMN IT! 1) A huge step up from the Worcester Auditorium, the Hart Center was sold out for every game for quite a while after it opened. 2) Holy Cross has an 12,000 seat arena a mile away if and when it needs it, but the Hart has more than adequate capacity for the present. 3) Holy Cross recently spent $94 million on the Luth Center. The best and brightest minds at HC in conjunction with Mr. and Mrs. Luth, I presume, felt the new paint job in the two Hart Center arenas was sufficient. My understanding is they thought that training, practice and athlete locker and lounge facilities and staff office amenities would improve Holy Cross athletics and help more in recruiting than new arenas. 4) Paint and union painters aren't cheap these days, but HC committed the necessary resources to freshen up the old basketball and hockey barns.
