Defense a little more aggressive than it has been. Leading to lot of points in the paint but also causing some problems on the perimeter.

Looking more confident! I like the pace, and the energy on D is much better...First time this season I have seen help and recovery, and weak side help...

At least it's been sorta entertaining so far.

Martindale may be their best shooter but his defense is a liability when is on the floor.
He hits a three and then a Fairfield player goes by him for an easy layup

Martindale gets beat back door more than any player I can remember. One of the reasons we're in this is Nelson pulling JM for Kenney/Townsel to improve the defense.
Louth very active, looks good.

I wonder if Coach Nelson saw what the team looked like on TV when he was in Covid protocol and made a f few subtle changes

Has HC lead at the half in any of the the games this year - other than the D3 games?

By far minus the D3 games.

Surprised they played D so well the last 8 min or so given how bad they played it at the outset.

HC shooting 52% - 40% from three and nearly 60% from two.

I think they had 20 points (all in paint ?) in less than 8 minutes.
Now HC up 33-28 at half.

Has HC lead at the half in any of the the games this year - other than the D3 games? Yes. At Quinnipiac. Led by 5 at H. Also tied with Lasalle at halftime.

He also had a nice move in the paint.

Gates just 11 minutes, Johnson 10, Martindale 7. A collective +/- of -8.
We've been better without them tonight.

Very happy to see us play so well for all but the first 3 minutes. Maybe the time away was good for Coach Nelson. I do like how far Louth has come since last year. The staff certainly gets some credit for that along with Louth obviously.

Fwiw, top HC +/- at the half. Coulibaly +10 Kenney +8 Montgomery +8 Humphrey +5 Townsel +4
These guys (along with Luc) are the ones getting it done.

Fairfield 0-5 from deep. But they are 50th nationally in 3FG%, so not likely to repeat in the second half.
