It seems like the only team BC can beat these days is lowly Notre Dame.

The Conte Forum seats 8,600. BC Athletics reported a crowd of 5,500 or 64% full. At most from the TV angles it looked like there were maybe 1,000 people in the building (counting the players and coaches). In addition, BC got off to a slow start and trailed 49-20 at the half and most of those 1,000 were gone by midway through the second half. (The players and coaches remained until the conclusion of the game.)

halftime score was 49-20 - many hit the exits then and the 2nd half attendance might have been in the 'hundreds'

Issue pretty clear - they should have joined the Big East.....

They did, but then abandoned it.

I won't be able to sleep tonight thinking about this.

Hypothetical : What does UNC or Duke vs HC at the DCU draw?

Hypothetical : What does UNC or Duke vs HC at the DCU draw? I'd go with 7-8K. We couldn't even get 4,000 the last time we played, and beat, BC there in 2012.

I think the ongoing efforts with the community would help the draw —a crowd of 10k

Issue pretty clear - they should have joined the Big East..... Basketball is meaningless to BC athletics. The football paycheck is all that matters.

I think the ongoing efforts with the community would help the draw —a crowd of 10k Not if we were putting a team out there with this type of record. Getting back to BC, they've always sold season tickets fairly well because of getting to see UNC, Duke, Syracuse....and drawn flies for the non leaguers (but announced much higher gates due to an incredible number of no-shows). Have witnessed this personally. However, NC falling into the same category as Stony Brook and Albany; even with a bunch of distractions (pandemic, no students there, Pats game) is still very disturbing to BC, I'm sure.

I was assuming we were talking 2-4 years out given scheduling, growing our commitment to Worcester, and of course an improved product (a significantly more successful team) regardless of who is coaching. Otherwise, I agree with you

People are likely losing interest in seeing Duke or UNC every year. I attended a Wake Forest and BC game about 10 years ago and Wake was top five in the country at the time. Conte had to be at most 60 percent filled.

Well, yeah, especially in years where there are no Zion Williamsons around (yeah, UNC probably has some one-and-dones, but they are not ones w/a lot of hype). As others have said, the interest in Boston in college basketball is perhaps lower than in any major city; the elite players are more of a draw because they might affect the Celtics at some point, either as draftees or opponents.

Right now: crickets. You can't put a number on stink (with apologies to our players, not so much the coaches).
An RW HC team? SRO. And this would be VERY hypothetical. They'd be afraid to come.
