The talent gap from good D.2 programs to the PL is not much - I like these hires when elevating successful D. 2 coaches - for the sake of the league I hope he makes a positive impact quickly

F&M is D3. Interesting to note that the Lafayette coaching position is endowed.

It appears Lafayette has noticed the Chesney principle. It would be ironic if it turns out Holy Cross hasn't when they make their next hire to lead a revenue sport.

The Kansas City model is beat everyone, except Brady in the post season. The Chesney model to me is stop hiring head coaches who only have a learner's permit and assume they know everything about driving the bus. Let those people break in at a lower division and show they can lead a program and win like Chesney and the new Lafayette coach have.

Could we wait until the new Lafayette coach has a season (or a game) with the Pards under his belt? If he succeeds like Chesney then good for Lafayette, but i need to mention that success is not automatic.

If he succeeds like Chesney then good for Lafayette, but i need to mention that success is not automatic. You can't say Lafayette will now have a winning football team. You can say Lafayette hired someone with a winning record as a head coach. Something HC can't say except for Chesney that I can think of. Amanda Belichick was the head coach for 2014 and 2015 at Wesleyan before coming to Holy Cross but was 5-10 both years. Wesleyan women's lacrosse was 17-4 in 2019, 4-0 in the Covid shortened 2020 season and 3-3 in 2021. I can't blame losing in minor sports on the coach as much as in the fully funded revenue sports, so each of those major sport coaching selections is a critical decision.
