Could it be proper that the player who makes the All America team is an All American?

Could it be proper that the player who makes the All America team is an All American? Would Giuseppe Giancarlo be All-Italian? I don't think so, but as noted, this is a personal pet-peeve. There are certainly more important things to worry about. And inadvertently omitted from my original post: Congratulations to each of our All America honorees!

And inadvertently omitted from my original post: Congratulations to each of our All America honorees!I tried to draw a distinction between the All-America TEAM and a player who is an All-American. I'm not sure if the second use is correct--that's why I asked a question, rather than making a statement

If I am reading it right, Hero Sports actual names "All Americans" the AP names an All America team...our press release used both in the headline (America and American) but in the story properly called them "American"...so your rant should be limited to Dobbs, he was the only one named to an All America team (AP)

How's Dobbs health since his injury?

He’s fine. Earlier this month he said “it’s just my ankle” and hoping it was just a sprain but felt he had plenty of time to recover before next season.
I was afraid from the replays that it was also his knee but apparently not.

I went to the Lafayette game, and my grandson wanted to go to the visitor's side to check out the view from there. We were sitting in the front row when a play developed with the Lafayette QB trying to run around the edge and Dobbs the only defender. It was something to see: his closing speed, tackling technique, and aggression are quite a package. He drove the QB about five yards out of bounds. He's a special player.

So, some good news to share to make your Christmas a little merrier, I just got this information from Jake Dobbs (he was next to me when I did the coin toss with my wife. He is a very nice young man!):
It's his ankle, not his knee and he's back to lifting and can put pressure on the ankle and excited about next season.
Nothing like having a first team All-America(N?) returning for your team the next season.

Interesting that the Gridiron Club of Boston names Harvard linebacker, Jack McGowan, as its New England defensive POY, while Jacob Dobbs is one of four linebackers named First Team All-America by Stats Perform - with McGowan nowhere to be seen among the S-P first, second or third teams. Note also, that S-P had a Dartmouth LB on their third team AA list.
Hey Gridiron Club - Don’t look now, but your bias is showing!

Now with Dobbs' selection as second team All-America by the American Football Coaches Association, we can add another group that doesn't consider McGowan to be as good as young Jacob. Further, the AFCA shows no other player from any New England school included in their first or second AA teams. It sounds like in many people's minds, i.e., everyone other than the Harvard bum-kissing Gridiron Club, Jacob Dobbs was New England's top FCS player - on both sides of the ball (and special teams, too). Congratulations, Jacob.

McGowan was the third leading tackler on his team. Here are the stats for him and Dobbs. Jacob Dobbs 13 games (really 12.5) 75 solo tackles 62 assisted tackles 17.5 TFL for 74 yards 9.5 sacks for 60 yards 0 Int Jack McGowan 10 games 30 solo tackles 20 assisted tackles 7 TFL for 26 yards 1 sack for 8 yards 2 Int

Congratulations, Jacob. Don’t have it in front of me but Jake was also a 2nd team All American by the AP. So that’s 4 AA honors by my count (by mainstream FCS sources/outlets). 1) Stats Perform 2) AFCA 3) Associated Press 4) Hero Sports

Did our SID do enough for Dobbs? There wasn't a "hook" like there was for two way player throwback Gordie Lockbaum other than Dobbs was very, very, very good.
