Dean, while the decision was made awhile ago to prohibit politics on this board, a decision to which I agreed heartily, I have a request (large or small, depending on one's perspective), and that would be to have a separate thread for Covid, it's ramifications; vaccine effectiveness; its spread; and all things Covid related including what colleges & universities do to combat it and plans to cancel or postpone various athletic events or class and to prohibit its discussion in any sports-related thread.
I am personally tired and suspect I am not the only one, about going to the basketball, football or other sports threads looking for information about the Crusader teams only to encounter diatribes about Covid under the pretense it is about a particular sport. I don't care if you are pro-vaccines, anti-vaccines, pro-mask, anti-mask, NBA, NHL, NBA cancellations or postponements; Trump's your hero, Trump should be put in jail, Biden sucks, Biden's great, Fauci should be jailed or be beatified. When I go to a particular thread, I'm looking for that sport's results, recruits, signings, expected wins and losses, etc.
If a game is going to be canceled or postponed or Holy Cross changes the protocols at the Hart or Fitton, stick it in a Covid thread. If we are interested, we can go there.
And, yes, I know that this might be some additional work as administrator to monitor this but most Crossporters seem to do a decent job of self-monitoring.
If I'm the only one who feels this way, I'm sure folks will chime in and, if I'm in the distinct minority, forget about it, I may just have to go on a Christmas hiatus.

As someone who crosses the line on occasion, yes, I support that.

We do go overboard, but not sure about the total ban. I don't read all the COVID threads, Not my thing. I think it was in a non-COVID thread that I learned I could invite non-vaccinated people to the Sacred Heart football game.
When I plan on going to an away basketball game, I check in advance to see what the rules are. I post that game specific information in the game thread in case other people want to know. I know of one poster who did not get vaccinated. He's a big fan but stays away from Hart because of the rules. He might have been interested to know that going to CCSU was an option to see our Crusaders without reading dozens of boring stats.
I've been lucky that my posts about COVID rules at specific road games haven't started any tangents, but if people want me to stop, not a big deal. Heck, only one more road game in New England anyway
I also think the issue is with tangents. I don't pay attention to the general COVID threads. That being said, I did read the thread in the hoops forum about basketball games being postponed. A thread in the hoops forum about other games being cancelled seems appropriate. The name clearly states what that thread is about. If you don't want to read that thread, don't

The Dean banned discussion of political subjects for the benefit of all. I’m wondering if he should ban discussion of HC basketball for the same reason?
