It’s called the Collegiate Bowl game. January 31st. Played at the Rose Bowl Pasadena Cali. I believe it will be televised on the NFL network.

Love this!! I know many on here (including myself at times) would get frustrated that BW only "owned" PL O-lines and would disappear at times against some of the better ones. A point of personal privilege here...BW played A LOT of Strong side D-End in a 3 man front. He was often covered up by a TE while in a 5 technique and even at times moved down to a 3 tech. He would have NEVER played this position at an FBS program or on an NFL roster. He would only play weakside/rush end or even some stand up edge/OLB. Said another way, he would most always have a free release off the edge. I cannot tell you what a difference this does in a player's production capabilities.
I don't know Benton's love for the game, and to play professional you have to absolutely LOVE it and/or not think you have many other career options (which he clearly would have many given his major/internships)...but he could...COULD have a Jimmy Murray type of run if he has enough fire left. Also some luck involved with getting in the right system early and getting looks.

He's listed as 6'4" and 260 pounds. If he were to try to make the NFL, would he more likely be considered as a linebacker? Isn't his speed/quickness considered one of his main attributes and believe his size is more NFL LB size.

He’ll be #91 on the “National” team for those tuning in.

Benton is rotating every 4-5 plays at right D-End with Vanvalkenburg from Iowa. Left D End is Sam Williams (all SEC and likely one or the top draft pics there) from Ole Miss and It looks like an end from Purdue.
They D-lines aren’t rotating fronts so Benton’s getting looks both covered by a TE (strong side) and rush end. He’s looking better and more comfortable on the rush side (he had one QBH on a good inside move) He’s just not big enough to play the run when getting chipped by a Tight end then blocked by an OT (these O Tackles are monsters)
Again he would only play weak side end at this level.

He came close to a sack and seemed to drive the QB into the guy who did get the sack. Announcers started praising BW and talking about his all-PL and Holy Cross and he promptly got called on the immediate next play for offsides. Announcers diminished the call saying something like “sometimes you just want to beat the snap.”
Congratulations to Benton for even getting to play in this game.
