I'm not at all sure why AU played today. We had four starters out and seven of our top 10 guys. I assume some of that was COVID, but if it was more than two, I don't know why we didn't postpone. Having said that, no one cares. We were up 30-11 in the first half against a 2-10 team playing its third game in five days, and we let them back in the game and hold on late. No excuses. And no one cares, anyway.

And no one cares, anyway. sounds an awful lot like hc basketball these days... with the big exception that you have actually won some games. i know the snide comments don't help, but each loss is really sucking the last remaining drops of life out of what little is left in our program. i used to listen to every hc game on crappy internet radio connections with some awful broadcasters, no matter what the circumstances. the chances to actually WATCH a game on video or tv were relished. i knew in the back of my head that we were playing yesterday, and despite self-isolation of my asymptomatic COVID and nothing to do from the couch, didn't even bother to tune in. and we are the diehards here. we knew interest more broadly was slipping, but other than wishing success for the kids and coaching staff who are presumably trying their very best, it's getting increasingly hard to feel much interest in this program these days. in line with the thread, i think we will probably get a few wins - at least i hope! - since the bottom of the league is so atrocious this year.

What you describe is the worst thing that can happen to a program. The fate of this season will largely be determined by the next 28 days when we have 7 games against the bottom half of the league. If things turn around, maybe Feb doesn’t look so bleak and we can steal some wins against Army and Loyola. Unless there is a major jump over the next month, I just don’t see us winning any of the 5 left vs. the top three. I must I never thought I’d say that about matchups with Colgate and Boston University but I guess I am showing my age.

Very similar, I'm afraid. Having said that, and while not at all absolving Brennan for the mediocrity of the last few years, I don't think it's coincidence that the floor has fallen out of the PL in the last couple of years with the advent of grad transfers. They have essentially neutralized/eliminated any advantage most LM programs had getting transfers from MM/HM schools. (BTW, I have zero problem with kids going the grad transfer route. None.) We got Jamir Harris from Minnesota. Under the old system, we should have expected three seasons from him, including his senior season. Instead, we got two, and he transferred to Seton Hall to play with his brother this year as a GS. Again, no problem with Jamir doing so. But programs at our level can't replace a guy like that easily. Also, even with the "do-over" year from COVID, you can't change the fact that PL "freshmen" seasons last year were, for most teams, around 12-14 games. And now they're called "sophomores" even though they've barely played half a season of college basketball. Again, not saying we don't stink. But there are reasons that we stink besides bad coaching. Which, again, I suspect is similar to what HC is going through.

Tuesday's scheduled AU-Lafayette game postponed. COVID protocols in our program. It is insane that we played Saturday.

For those who want to look at other PL games, there are two 5pm tips tonight - Loyola at BU, and Lehigh at Army (Bucknell at Navy is 7pm start like ours)

BU, who had their players wear masks on the court while playing last season, has fans at their game tonight.
Holy Cross has shut down their games.
We may not win on the court, but at least we win as most woke PL school.

Loyola hanging on, up 35-27 with 16 mins left Lehigh (flopping after big win over Colgate) down 39-13 at the half - not a typo

Army was up 25 points over Lehigh. Loyola leading BU 46-37.
As bad s we have been, if we don't end up in the top half of this league . . . . . . . ugh!

I bet if HC was decent this yr & there was some local interest, rather than being one of the worst squads in the country that virtually no one cares to watch they wouldn't have done this.

BU down only 58-56 as they've hit something like 3 3 pointers in a row. Going down to the wire.

Loyola up 8 with less than a minute to play. They seem to know how to finish a game.

It can be said that the two teams playing the best ball right now are the academies

BU, who had their players wear masks on the court while playing last season, has fans at their game tonight. Hopefully that stays the same. Might be my best chance to see this squad again this season
