3-1 loss (3rd goal was an empty netter). AIC is a great team for the AHA and we have very little offensive talent. Throw in a goalie drafted by the NHL (transfer from PC), and it seems like a bit of a moral victory to be in a 2-1 game (shots on goal 18-18) on the road, with less than 2 minutes left. Of course, moral victories are not acceptable, but we were not competitive at all the last couple years against AIC. Riga is making some progress, give him 3 years of recruits before condemning him to be “ovah” his head.

HC up 4-1 at the end of 1. Hopefully we stay on our 12 goal pace.

FINAL. HC, 5-4. AIC scored a couple late to make it interesting.

Nice win. Had to figure AIC would get over their hangovers and start to play better. Glad we could hang on for the win.

AIC was riding an 11-game win streak coming into today’s game. I don’t think we’re nearly as far from being a contender in our league in hockey as we are in men’s basketball.

The AHA is a Christmas present to Holy Cross. We'd likely be rattling around the DCU Center, spilling red ink and more broadly spreading the image of Holy Cross ineptitude if we had been invited to Hockey East and were unable to resist joining in recent years.
It's hard to imagine Coach Berard building a winner in Hockey East if he couldn't compete well in the AHA. Coach Pearl might have been able to but we missed the opportunity to move up in leagues while he was here if the bonafide opportunity existed.
If Coach Riga can build a winning program in the AHA, then it would then be logical to attempt to move up to either the ECAC or H.E. I realize neither league has an open rolling admissions policy.
An upgraded on campus hockey facility is on the wish list and would serve both M+W teams so that would help us whatever league we're in but the fundraising momentum is for football right now, which has totally earned it.

Not just the Hart Center. Same applies to everywhere 'cept Fitton.
