Judge Greg Flynn, Class of 1973, passed away recently. He was the presiding judge in Waltham District Court for almost 30 years. I had a few memorable cases before him and always appreciated the thoughtfulness he brought to the court every day. Any chance anyone on Crossports knew him at HC?

I am a classmate and friend of Greg - besides a distinguished judicial career he was a big HC sports fan and in his final months he found the strength to attend the Sacred Heart football game wrapped in blankets to stay warm - he fought pancreatic cancer for 3 years - A loyal Crusader and a man of great faith - RIP

I heard the funeral mass is this Saturday and will have a Jesuit or two on the altar. Unfortunately, I didn't know him but heard from a couple of the Gregorian University Foundation Board members that he was a very special person. Greg was a supporter of the GUF, Jesuit education, and a number of Vatican programs.

As a lawyer I've known many judges, and some get burned out after a while. For all the years he was a judge I always thought that Greg really tried to do the right thing every day. I think he believed that while it was necessary to hold people accountable for their misdeeds there was room for compassion and empathy. He was no pushover, but he brought a sense of decency to his job.

I have known Greg for 53 years as a classmate and great friend. He was a true "Crusader" throughout his career and life. From his pick up basketball games to serious discussions on the day's events, he was a pleasure to be with. I also had the fortunate pleasure to have two of my children attend and be in the same class at Holy Cross with two of his children. Many dinners and occasions together. The mutual appearances at football and basketball games were too many to count. Greg and his support of Holy Cross will be sorely missed.....our hearts and prayers go out to Joan and the entire Purple Flynn family ! I am so privileged to have known this special human being and be able to call him a friend May the Cross be with you ! .....

I've knew Greg since we were wee nippers, especially have fond memories of our time as kids on the Irish Riviera. Our families go back a while, his step mother was one of my mother's best friends. He was an absolute gentleman, I often worked with him in the 70's when he was working with his father in the family firm and later when he was at the MBTA. Great father, lawyer, Judge & Crusader. He will be missed

I certainly didn’t know Greg well, but got to know him through the Garrity family and crossing paths at HC events. I always felt that if we were at the same event, Greg would go out of his way to say Hello and engage in conversation. (And I’m really not that likable!)
Truly a man for others, and a person whom I’m proud to say I call a brother Crusader.

Fr. McFarland came up from Washington DC and celebrated the funeral mass with 3 other priests including Fr. James Hayes from HC. As a classmate it was a wonderful day honoring ‘a life well lived’
