Incredibly sad and tragic.
When this happens in a young person these days, the first question that should be asked: was he vaccinated and boosted?

Incredibly sad and tragic. When this happens in a young person these days, the first question that should be asked: was he vaccinated and boosted? But 4 years ago, you would never have asked that. There are a handful of these incidents that happen yearly in high school and college athletics.

Incredibly sad and tragic. When this happens in a young person these days, the first question that should be asked: was he vaccinated and boosted? Why? Pretty well documented there’s a greater chance of myocarditis and other heart-related issues in younger people as a result of the vaccine and booster. There’s also a reason the Moderna booster was banned for people under the age of 30 in a host of European countries. I’ll allow our resident doctor (dado) to chime in.

Chu Chu is also a doctor. So, the diagnosis has been established as myocarditis?

I don't admire using this tragedy as a back door to promote an opinion on covid vaccines - insensitive at the very least. We can all put ourselves in the family's place and imagine the anxiety, the fear, the heartbreak. It's called empathy .My prayers are with the young man & his family.May the young man receive the best medical care & pull through. May the family stay strong and keep faith. No doubt many of us will say a prayer.

Chu Chu is also a doctor. So, the diagnosis has been established as myocarditis? You know the rules of evidence on Crossports Counselor. There are none. I hope this young man recovers his full health. Another incident happened with a high school ski team member on Ward Hill in Shrewsbury a few years ago before Covid. It led to defibrillators being more readily available for high school athletes as I recall.

In my original post on this thread, I posted a link to a foundation honoring the life a female high school water polo player. She died 22years ago. I anticipated that there might be a poster or two who would suggest this boy's heart attack was COVID-related. From the link,: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is not the same condition as myocarditis. -------------------------------------------------- With respect to COVID causing long-term heart disease, the results of a large study of veterans in the United States. www.science.org/content/article/covid-19-takes-serious-toll-heart-health-full-year-after-recovery^^^ Full text. Bolding mine. www.nature.com/articles/s41591-022-01689-3------------------------------------------- The young man in Boston was placed on an ECMO, the last desperate resort for the most severely ill COVD patients, where intervention becomes a heroic measure. This WaPo article linked below describes the ordeal of a young, healthy, pregnant mother In Texas, stricken with COVID during her pregnancy. wapo.st/3gKhFcXBoth mother and a healthy baby survived. The mother is expected to make a full recovery in time. As I post the link, there are 6474 comments on it.

Sad that some folks will use any means to back their grifter leader. www.washington.edu/news/2011/04/06/sudden-cardiac-death-affects-about-1-in-44000-ncaa-athletes-a-year/Other key findings of the study included: African-American athletes had a sudden cardiac death rate of one in 17,696, compared with one in 58,653 for white competitors. The risk for males was one in 33,134 vs. one in 76,646 for females. The highest risk rate of sudden cardiac death was associated with playing basketball, with a rate of one in 11,394. Swimming was associated with the second-highest risk, followed by lacrosse, football, and cross-country track. The risk of sudden cardiac death in male athletes in Division I basketball was about one in 3,000. WebMD
