I realize that some here totally disregard the NBA today. I empathize with most of the games. But last night I watched a game that brought back memories of the old Frazier Knicks, Bird Celtics and Magic Laker teams of the 70s and 80s. For the first time all season the Warriors had their entire roster available. The result was an offensive and defensive clinic. On offense they had 33 assists on 43 field goals.. 11 different players had assists with no one having more than 9. The ball did not stick. No isos. The cuts were crisp. As a result they shot 46 % from 3, and 52% overall. Now the Nuggets were missing their second and.third best players, but that did not take away from the Warrior offense. They were unselfish in their championship runs and their core is the same- Curry, Thompson and Green. Add Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins, and they have a fluid, if short, closing five. A joy to watch. Hoops as it should be played.

The Warriors dynasty has been one of the great teams in basketball. + Jordan's Bulls, Showtime Lakers, "60's Celtics + ? Of course in College Wooden's UCLA dynasty was without equal.

I realize that some here totally disregard the NBA today. For a lot of those people they should really take another look. NBA is pretty damn good basketball right now.

Final play in Boston. Drive - nothing there - kick out - shot fake - get two defenders in the air - drive - dish to the cutter - win at the buzzer. About as beautiful and selfless as basketball gets in 2022. Marcus Smart for president.

Watch Durant and the absolutely insufferable Kylie on that possession — two of the best players in the world, not guarding anyone, just watching the ball.

I don’t see the old lack of defense complaint as being a big thing anymore, at least not among the better teams, and in fact that’s why I stopped watching the NBA for a long time. That’s not exactly how I interpret that final play but ok; it’s open to interpretation.

Ask Jocik or Coach Malone about the Warrior defense last night

I love college basketball, but I've been an NBA fan my whole life. The defense is intense, which is why a lot of great college players can't succeed in the NBA. There are many defensive schemes, including many flavors of zone defense. You have great coaches and great athletes. It's quite a product.

I still can't get over the fact that players take two steps (or more) on a drive to the basket and it's not a travelling violation. Agreed that they are talented athletes.

For me, it's not about the talent of the players so much, or even the style of play. I very gradually lost interest once the marketing focus seemed to shift from teams to individual players. That, along with free agency (and I know the players have that right). Similar feeling about baseball. Sadly, I worry that the transfer craze in college basketball is eventually going to have the same affect on me. Teams/schools take a back seat. Makes it a challenge to really care about who you root for.

I no lo anger have the love I once had of the NBA. Perhaps it is my personal bias, but I see "...and more" in virtually every NBA game I watch.

So a couple of more steps here and a couple more there? Adds to the excitement. Loved the Globetrotters as a kid. Obviously, I'm not serious. But, an NBA game between two top flight teams is a joy for me to watch. These guys are not the Globetrotters. playing for comedic entertainment. They are tough, highly skilled great players who when good play team basketball at the highest level. Watch out for those Celtics.

Gary Cohen is the TV play by play man for the NY Mets. During the winter he does the radio play by play for Seton Hall basketball.
The other day during the Met game he got in a discussion with Keith Hernandez (his analyst on the broadcast) about basketball. To my amazement Gary said that, if he could announce college basketball 12 months a year, he would give up his Mets job. That's how much he loves it.
Keith then asked him about the NBA. Gary said he has ZERO interest in it. He doesn't think he has watched an NBA game in over 5 years.
Personally I kind of agree with Gary. However, I will watch a few Knick games and some of the NBA playoffs if I have nothing else going on. I think the reason for that is that the Knicks have been bad for so many years there is not much to root for and, if I don't have a rooting interest in the game, I would rather watch something else.

If you can stay up, try the Warriors at 10.tonight. Unlike the Knicks, real hoops.

Only a few NBA teams have gone longer w/o winning it all than the Knicks (49 years). Royals/Kings Hawks Braves/Clippers (have never won it) Suns (have never won it) The other "never wons" are teams created after 1973 and/or from the ABA merger.

One of the relatively few 4 sport areas and all they have to show is one World Series.

I don't watch a lot of regular season NBA but I have watched portions of both Celts playoff games. If you want to complain about something in the NBA, I think that the problem is that they are just too damn good.
Oh, and talking about the Globetrotters..... I am not a Kyrie fan but his ball handling is really something special. I was texting with one of my boys while watching the other day. He sent me this Youtube video.

The comeback win last night in game 2 in Boston was probably the most exciting sporting event I’ve ever attended. The talent level is really something to behold. For defensive aficionados and Celtic fans I can’t imagine a more satisfying game to watch. Every time Kyrie or KD shot the ball there were at least 2, if not 3, defenders with a hand up. The timing on the rotations to not allow a dish off was superb.
