This river of NIL cash being introduced doesn't increase the talent in college basketball by one tick in even one player's shooting percentage or make any player jump a centimeter higher. Colleges like Holy Cross could treat NIL with benign neglect and leave it up to players and their families to knock themselves out dialing for dollars if they choose to.
The one way HC should address it is to make sure the compliance dept. is carefully monitoring everything they can and hold any player participating accountable to follow the rules so as not to denigrate HC.

The NCAA is making comments about trying to control this....way too late for that.

The lawyers are just salivating over the inevitable high profile lawsuits that are forthcoming

I'm feeling like Lou Saban did this one day:
I'm really having a hard time getting too worked up about what's going on with my favorite college basketball program. It's like being in your house complaining about dishes in the sink and dirty clothes strewn about while there are hurricanes, tornadoes and blizzards (all at once) tearing it up outside.

You can never go wrong with a Lou Saban reference.

It just makes what would probably still be a bad situation worse. Good debate question: would Nelson's tenure have a chance of sustainability if the players had to sit out a year if they left? Or maybe having them around would have hastened (assuming he's gone at the end of his contract in a year) his departure?

A few player gripes wouldn't have loosened Kit's death grip on the Athletic Department's wallet.

Re: the death grip on the AD wallet.
the following is crossposted from a thread of test scores. Allowing for an increase in the cost of attendance ($500-550K), and four additional merit scollies for women's ice hockey ($300K), this means that 13-14 new full scollie equivalents were created for the Olympic sports in 2021-22. Assuming this is year one of a 3-4 year ramp-up, HC intends increasing the number of full scollie equivalents by between 40-60 for the Olympic sports by 2025.

Can anyone detect an improvement in any particular olympic/minor sport for the recently concluded athletic 21-22 season ? - I am sure some of the coaches wanted their new recruits to make an imme impact.

And HC spent to retain Chesney and staff and is paying for a rink feasibility study. The death grip on the purse is loosening. And HC hasn't paid for two head coach salaries in one sport since one year for TG. Prudent stewardship.
