Lewis vs Wilbar will be interesting. Didn’t Lewis show (in HS or limited HC play) that he can run and can handle the ball a bit. He showed decent shooting form, perhaps? One knock was he needed some weight, and I believe CBN said he had gained 30 lbs. in contrast Wilbar comes in already listed at 235 so that is one advantage he has. I’m betting on Dave’s #3 above-different types of players Lewis was listed last year at 190 lbs, so 235 is a significant difference. In the mic's up video, Coach Nelson seems to be clowning with Lewis about all the weight he put on (in a good way) and mentioned being up 30 lbs to 190. From my eyeball test, I do not believe for one minute that Lewis walked in the door weighing less than Luc (164 lbs)

I don’t think I’ve ever seen 4+ minute highlight video of a 6’11” player with not even a single dunk. But, based on what I saw in the video I thought he should be able to help us, especially if he’s really 6’11”

Here’s an interview with Wilbar from when he committed to Indiana State.

He likes to fire up the threes with 8 3 point attempts per 40 minutes. Highest for HC last season was likely Martindale at 6.3 per 40.

I don’t know, he’s a pretty athletic 6’11” guy who can shoot 3s. Who the heck are people expecting a horrible team to get out of the portal? I think this is a decent signing. My thoughts exactly, vis-a-vis who do you expect us to be signing. ...and if you want to compare him to Lewis, he's got a larger frame and seems to move well. Of course, none of his highlights were at the defensive end so maybe we've got Martindale II here.

Some of his highlights showed blocks.

1.5 per 40 minutes— not Floyd or Obeyesekere or Clifford but not negligible either. If he played, say, 15- 18 minutes a game he might block 20 shots for the season at that rate
From the interview—ultimate goal is to play in the NBA……..

Some of his highlights showed blocks. Missed them, yeah, not bad! You couldn't put together a highlight reel of Rabs, Louth and Lewis combined (I do like Louth's rebounding prowess) that would equal this; 'course it's still a highlight reel.

Have to assume he and Nelson believe they have a meeting of the minds as to what his role will be. Either that agreement involves him shooting the most threes on the team or it doesn’t. Time will tell. 6’11” guys in the PL who are reasonably athletic should be able to have some success. I hope he does.

Good research, PP But how is this directly relevant to Wilbur coming to HC ?

The four who transported elsewhere combined for almost 70% of HC's 3FGA, so I understand the need for long-range bombers, but Wilbar is under 30% from deep in his career to date. I hope that not going to be his role at the offensive end.

The negativity in this town sucks! No we just see bad year after bad year. BBC Brett Nelson is not John Wooden enough. I think we have to question Nelson's recruiting . He doesn't keep anybody on his roster either! All the tall kids in the portal HC can't get anybody that is an established player.

Will be interesting to see how the eligibility plays out for Wilbar, namely, whether he has 2 or 3 years to play and whether he can play in 2022-23.

We're mixing "per game" and "per 40 minutes" here, although you are certainly correct in concluding that he did not make a satisfactory percentage of his three point attempts this past season.

I think his D vs PL 5's is the key to his playing time next season. he's not going to take minutes from Gates, so they will come from Coulibaly & Rabinovich, maybe Kenny

I think his D vs PL 5's is the key to his playing time next season. That's key #2 #1 Key will be if he's eligible after transferring from Lincoln to Indiana St without sitting a year

Any suggestion that any decision by Coach Nelson was less than brilliant makes you a hater. 1) That’s not what I said. B) If he is anywhere above our 4th big this year, he’s either a great addition or something went wrong with Gates, Louth, and Kenny. So our 4th big is 6’11 with D1 experience. 2.5 years ago we didn’t have a 4th big, and our 2nd & 3rd bigs were not D1 players. Only this crew could complain about that. This kid is soft! The program has gotten no better. Another losing season on the way!

Here’s an interview with Wilbar from when he committed to Indiana State. He seems like a nice young man but claiming that you game is basically playing away from the basket at 6'11" because of your skill set is NOT what we need in the PL. A 6'11" banger under the boards would be huge in the PL. Not a lot of those in the PL.

Simon will go through the BN bootcamp and improve as much as Louth did. Hopefully.
