Gerrale Gates just won the Maloney Award
It is rare that a returning player wins this award. Who was the most recent to do so?
Looking at next season's roster, there is a decent chance Gates could be a two time winner, Who is the only player to win the Maloney award twice?

Ray's arrows are correct. Rob Feaster won the Maloney as a junior and a senior
Tim Szatko won the award as a senior, but that was it (even though he was PL player of the year as a sophomore)
Someone else out there more recently than Feaster won the award as a junior, but this guy didn't repeat as a senior. Still working on that name

Burrell did not win the Maloney Award
Alexander won it his senior year
When you hear the name, it will seem obvious. Until then still looking for that junior winner

Jehyve won the award junior year. The year ahead was left empty when Mitch Hahn, the only member of the class of 18, transferred Unlike Feaster, he did not repeat as a senior

There's been a winner every year since the award was founded. Jehyve's senior year the award went to his classmate Matt Zignorski

Ziggy's best year was as a Freshman when he averaged 3.5 ppg in 32 games. As a senior he was down to 1.2 ppg in 22 games. In March of 2016 optimism about HC MBB was booming. The only constant between then and now is now is Joe Kennedy. His analysis of the seven seasons since 2015-16 would be fascinating.

Since then we've found just about every way to lose a player before the player finished his eligibility; spanning two coaching staffs. But players like Butler and Faw who graduate from HC and continue their eligibility elsewhere are fine with me. I would rather see Bubba be invited back if he doesn't catch on anywhere rather than pocket a scholarship for a year for just the sentiment you expressed. There is an intangible benefit to completing the circle with as many recruits as possible, all things being equal. Plus he is a decent player who should logically be better the next two years than the past two. Of course we have no insight into anyone's thinking and players deserve freedom of choice, but in general retaining a recruit is a credit and losing one is a debit to whoever recruited them. Same thing for coaches for the duration of their contract for whoever hired them.
