Traveling for work and Listened on my drive to the hotel tonight. Lots of classic Chesney re. His thoughts on philosophy, differentiators etc. Loved his answer about NIL for the vast majority of FCS and most FBS players not making “immediate life changing money” well into 6 or 7 figures. Basically, take a look at Modak and Cedeno’s starting salaries at Raytheon and Keybanc haha.
Also some interesting nuggets on personnel.

As midwestsader ‘05 said, “lots of classic Chesney”…and that’s a good thing. A great communicator…not hard to understand why he has been so successful at three head coaching stops. Hopefully, he’ll be on Mt. St. James for many more years.

Sadly, the drawback is that I want the football season to start NOW. Waiting will be difficult, especially when we hear interviews like this one. As a BTW, this type of interview also plays into recruiting, commitments and LOIs - perfect timing for a positive spot like this.

The target audience for this program includes football professionals in position to influence talented young players who are good students on where to attend college to "have it all."

Absolutely a great interview with Coach Chesney.......I hope the President of Holy Cross gets a chance to listen and learn about what makes Holy Cross so special. Talk about doing it right - Chesney gets it. He should be at every alumni function to galvanize their support for the program and the college. Any funding given to the football program will be used wisely and provide positive results leading to a National Championship at the FCS level. He has earned our respect and makes you want to follow the team wherever it may play. A true leader who understands " life skills " and knows how to instill them in our student athletes. God Bless Chesney & Holy Cross !!!

I think PVR will enjoy attending HC football at Polar Park again this year. Would I be correct in saying that sellout at Polar last year was the first capacity crowd in Worcester for a Holy Cross athletic event in several years?
The President knows no other coach is generating community support for Holy Cross like Coach Chesney is.

God Bless Chesney & Holy Cross !!! Couldn’t agree more with your statement. In the day of NIL and the Ivy’s having acceptance programs that allow them to have rosters of 125 players or more the timing of Coach Chesney is spot on. Selling the value of a Holy Cross education, selling and promoting our 90 Wide Mentoring program, exposing candidates to our beautiful campus and fantastic facilities is the perfect mix. These attributes are what sell realistic parents who I’m sure think their sons are great football players but realize that chances of NFL stardom is not realistic. This is what is going to make our program the Stanford of FCS football. Imagine the Holy Cross Crusaders as the National Champions of FCS football. Unbelievable!!

Wasn’t sure where to put this but another player from Assumption is getting a look from the NFL. This one is DB Carlins Platel who played three years at Assumption (one under Chesney in 2017) before playing this year at South Carolina.
