IIRC, HC is one of two teams to have an all-time winning record against the University of Georgia. the other is the University of Southern California.

Do any FCS teams, other than HC, have a winning record against them?

I was in error. Holy Cross and USC have the distinction of being the only two football opponents that have an undefeated W-L record* against the 'Dawgs: both are 3-0. (Senility is creeping in.)
* More than one game.
____________
HC is 1-2 all-time against LSU.

We'll be sitting on our lead against the sons of Herschel Walker, no doubt.

Amazing article! i learned a lot. The Crusaders were an eastern power in those days. They had compiled a 40-5-4 record over the previous five seasons. HC had beaten Georgia two years in a row. LSU had actually dropped Texas, a team they'd beaten three straight, to schedule a home-and-home series with Holy Cross to beef up the schedule.

1960's a college football rules change moved to unlimited substitutions - two platoon football. Smaller colleges with limited funds could not compete against larger universities with greater funds to scholarship two platoons. Exposure on network TV moves football from regional to national.

Throw co-education (not that it shouldn't have happened, don't get me wrong) at schools that didn't significantly increase their student body into that mix as well. A school of 2500 suddenly became a school of 1250.

Like most of PL we're a school of 1500 male undergrads; probably the reason for the 90 roster limit

IIRC, HC is one of two teams to have an all-time winning record against the University of Georgia. the other is the University of Southern California. Out of teams who have faced the bulldogs 3 or more times, only 3 are unbeaten; HC, USC, Pitt. Only 2 are unbeaten and untied; USC(3-0) and HC(3-0).

This would be a great trivia question to troll the Georgia football message board with! I worked for The Coca-Cola Company for 13 years and spent 6 of them in Atlanta surrounded by Georgia grads and fans. I can confirm that it was a great pleasure tweaking Bulldog fans with these facts. Of course, I served it up by stating that "Holy Cross is undefeated versus Georgia", knowing that would elicit a guffawing response of "Yeah . because we've never played Holy Cross". Then I got to deliver the finale: "in fact Holy Cross is 3-0 lifetime versus Georgia."
