Can you imagine what that group could eat—two entrees apiece, please

What fine central Mass. dining establishment is that? Doesn't look like a busy one with plenty of open tables....

Then there was all you can eat Chicken Night at the HoJo’s at College Square. Anyone remember the football team marching on to that fine dining establishment one evening?
The results were not pretty. Soon after the promotion was discontinued at the HoJo’s.

A lot of posters here probably weren't alive when HoJo's was operating and fewer still remember when there was no HoJo's at the bottom of the hill (originally, not now, of course!)

HoJo’s was a great source of ice for the cooler before going across the street for a baseball game

Wasn’t there a Burger King there in the restaurant space for a while?

Met Mark "The Bird" Fidrych at the HoJo's Rum Keg Pub one night in '86 or'87...absolutely true story.
One of my brothers lived there for a semester.

What fine central Mass. dining establishment is that? Only place that could feed that group is a Chinese food buffet. Not sure which one it is though.

Friend of the family's coached the Bird in the Tigers minor-league system, Skip Lewis (Durfee HS baseball coach), his wife was a high school friend of my Mom's. That's how I got Fidrych's attention that night....Mark wasn't a huge fan of Lewis' lol. Yeah, sadly, we'll probably never see quite the character Fidrych was in the MLB today and moving forward.

I remember sitting in the bleachers at Fenway when the Tigers came to town his rookie season. A bunch of his high school/townie buddies was sitting nearby and yelling for "Mahkie". Little did I know that he would go on to have one of the greatest ever seasons for a rookie pitcher

IIRC, in addition to some of his classmates and townies, a group of teachers also attended. While warming up in the bullpen, Fid stopped throwing and started signing autographs for them. Well, that didn't sit well with the manager Ralph Houk who sent someone out to the pen to tell Fid to knock it off and concentrate on warming up! Well, Fid wasn't happy and sent word back to Houk that "these are my friends!!! Fid also commented that "this was the first time that he signed something for a teacher that had nothing to do with school"!!! I'll never forget Fid talking to the ball and going down on his hands and knees smoothing out the dirt on the mound during games and was so proud to see him pitch in the All Star game!!!
